Former NFL player Michael Oher claimed that he was never legally adopted (4 Viewers)

Well, fwiw, I doubt Oher is worth close to that much. It could be he should be worth a lot more if he was legitimately shortchanged. Idk. He's recently married, probably has a lot of expenses for the lifestyle he's used to, so I suspect what's going out is much more than he's taking in, so his net worth is likely dropping fast.
I'm just going by what Google said his net worth is.

I'm currently a little bitter about youth sports in general and what it does to grown arse people. They make it unbearable to enjoy watching kids play. Rich people make it even worse.

FWIW the production company that made the movie says they've paid the Tuohy's $767K before any agent's commission.

Since the film’s 2009 release, Kosove and Johnson say that Alcon Entertainment has paid approximately $767,000 to the talent agency that represents the Tuohys and Oher. Kosove and Johnson described the deal as “consistent with the marketplace at that time for the rights of relatively unknown individuals.”

“It did not include significant payouts in the event of the film’s success,” they wrote. “As a result, the notion that the Tuohys were paid millions of dollars by Alcon to the detriment of Michael Oher is false."

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee judge said Friday she is ending a conservatorship agreement between former NFL player Michael Oher and a Memphis couple who took him in when he was in high school.

Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes said she is terminating the agreement reached in 2004 that allowed Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to control Oher’s finances. Oher signed the agreement when he was 18 and living with the couple as he was being recruited by colleges as a star high school football player.

Gomes said she was not dismissing the case. Oher has asked that the Tuohys provide a financial accounting of money that may have come to them as part of the agreement, claiming that they used his name, image and likeness to enrich themselves and lied to him that the agreement meant the Tuohys were adopting him.

Gomes said she was disturbed that such an agreement was ever reached. She said she had never seen in her 43-year career a conservatorship agreement reached with someone who was not disabled.

“I cannot believe it got done,” she said.

Sounds like it's on the right path. Should never have been done. Should be terminated. And an accounting should be produced.

Watch the video Madmarsha posted and you'll understand why that figure us what it is. He got 1/5 of what the Tuohys received from the talent agency. That seems perfectly fair to me. You'll also understand why they didn't receive more.

Now maybe you could argue they shouldn't have signed the deal offered and demanded a percentage deal instead, but that isn't what they signed for compensation. So what Michael received was a fair share of what they got. I'm not sure why he thinks they received millions of dollars when what they actually received it's all on paper in signed contracts for him to see if he likes.

Imo probably would have been more fair to give Oher 1/2 instead of 1/5.

It was only because of his talent that this was ever made into a movie. Similar situation with someone flipping burgers and you never hear about it.

Counting Michael, there are five of them, so they split it equally among everyone in the house.

Considering the Tuohys make a lot of money from their business already and Michael earned millions playing in the NFL, I don't understand arguing over what is to all of them a pittance. It's a ton of money to me and you, but we aren't millionaires.

Right, I understand what they were doing with the 1/5 split.. I was just saying that to me it would have been most fair for Michael to get half and for the family to get half.
