Former NFL player Michael Oher claimed that he was never legally adopted (2 Viewers)

Right, I understand what they were doing with the 1/5 split.. I was just saying that to me it would have been most fair for Michael to get half and for the family to get half.
Maybe so, but that is completely subjective. It also ignores the fact that without the family's help it is highly unlikely he would have had the life he ended up with.
The point is that he claims that the family got millions and he didn't see any of it....a statement that at this point doesn't seem to be true.

Thus far there is no evidence to support his claims that the family made tons of money off him without giving him anything.

I understand. I was just expressing my opinion on that particular point.

i'm not sure they even exist. its like Bigfoot...
Lol, then that makes me one of the crazy backcountry loons who says they have seen them!

Sincerely, I know quite a number of them (millionaires, not billionaires) and you’d never suspect that they are. Not by where they live, or what they drive, or what they wear. Pooossssibly, you can spot them by where their kids go to school…but sometimes not even then. Otherwise, you’d never know.

i am not doubtng there are quiet content millionaires. I am doubting there are millionaires who could live the rest of their lives on the money tha have, and not be in the pursuit of more and more and more. And i am more referring to multi-millonaires not your ones who have a few million. My in laws are probably sitting on a few million dollars of saving/retirement (Shell Chem stock, pension, 40k, etc). But i would not consider them millonaires.

Seems like you're taking an objective measurement and replacing it with a subjective one.

If your in-laws have a net worth over $1M, they are millionaires even if they aren't flashy spenders or bad people.

that way I elaborated multi-millonaires. thats what i should have said to begin with.

I think just about everyone is always in pursuit of more and more and more in theory. There's always another level-up in the standard of living that's out there - even for millionaires many times over. But for many, the risk tolerance and long-term planning make it unrealistic to obtain more than what sensible planning will earn. So you set it up sensibly and you just go with what you got.

Indeed.

The studios and producers are the ones that made a killing. Looks like no one got a percentage of the gross in their contract. Shame.

I'm confused by Oher's attorneys assuming that Tuohy's made a lot more than they did. They had to research it before bringing the suit.

As for the split, I can agree that Oher deserved more than each of the Tuohy family members. His role and part of the story line is much more significant. But in the end, it looks like the proceeds they divided were paltry compared to what Disney and the cast made.

I have no problem with an even split....without the Tuohys there is no Michael Oher story. I'm not saying a case couldn't be made, but how would you put an objective value on the split?

Now granted maybe things didn't happen this way, but if I invite someone to stay in my home 24/7, support them, make them a part of family events and meals, stand with them on the biggest night of their life (the NFL draft), and buy them a vehicle they are family regardless of what any piece of paper says.

Anyone plan on watching this...?

But “Blindsided” paints a different picture of Oher’s upbringing, challenging the film’s depiction of him as unsophisticated, uneducated and solely reliant on the family’s support for his success.

“It’s kind of embarrassing, and I’m embarrassed for him as a friend,” Quinterio Franklin, one of the Super Bowl winner’s former classmates, says in the CNN documentary after watching a scene from the movie in which Oher submits a test without answering any of the questions, instead drawing a stick figure on a boat. “It’s not accurate and it’s hurtful.”

Why wouldn't you consider them millionaires. That's what most millionaires look like.
