Breaking! Gayle Benson fires Dennis Allen; Darren Rizzi named Interim Head Coach (48 Viewers)

No, he was just being honest. Dennis didn’t lie. Although, he was probably still upset that Carr didn’t save his job. Carr looked rusty
I made the comment because last year he threw Olave under the bus after the Jacksonville game when it was clearly Carr’s fault.

It sparked Thomas’ tweet calling DA and Carr out because Carr skipped the progression and just threw up a prayer to Olave (as he did this Sunday).

I agree, that pass told me Carr also doesn’t care. Hope I’m wrong

I hope interviewing players was a wakeup call to Gayle in terms of who has been steering this ship and allowing this to happen.

"If you didn't know, then you should have."

Sorry, Mickey.

Payton wouldn’t come back because he didn’t want DA to lose the HC job. He said that himself.

I'm sure that's the reason (/sarcasm off).....

CSP isn't coming back, he was here 15+ years, I wish he would though

He actually said he was approached by the organization to come back after the year off but chose to let not shaft DA because they were friends. The entire organization suffered because the Saints wouldn’t push harder for Payton.

Drew was already gone CSP's last year here.....which to me was one of his best as a coach....4 different starting QB's, most games missed by starters in NFL history and still over .500 and nearly made the playoffs....

I'm not sure what year off you are referring to?

If I’m reading between the lines, their losing streak was due to a lack of effort not talent. Bad tackling is clear evidence of a lack of effort. That lazy read on 4th and 4 throwing an underthrown jump ball. The Wr not coming down with it after having both hands on it. It’ll be interesting to see if Rizzi can make this team look like a different team. If he can then we’ll know for sure that Da lack of leadership was the culprit.

When Tipton is your #1 or #2 receiver, you are seriously lacking talent. Or at least depth.

I stand corrected on the Brees thing. But Payton didn’t exactly leave the cupboard bare.

Loomis should be shown the door too. It was obvious after the 1st year hiring DA was a mistake, too bad we threw in one and a half years on top

I understand everyone wants blood, but I’m not giving up on our 20+ year Super Bowl winning GM just because he chose the wrong HC literally once (one recommended to him by a man he trusts in SP I should add) and is dealing with an injury-ravaged roster. He had a vision of continuing the continuity and it failed. Most GMs get at two strikes on getting the HC spot right before the team moves on.

I know this isn’t a thing in the NFL, but to me the man has earned “tenure” privileges and deserves an opportunity to fix things before being given the boot.

I think too much is made about our cap gymnastics, and that is well-documented. I just think it would be silly for us to fire Mickey based on internal factors, front office structure factors, and accounting structure factors and goals many people here don’t fully understand.

People are being emotional right now. “Fire everyone!” “The owner does nothing but take pics before games and doesn’t care!” “Sell the team!” “Mickey doesn’t know what he’s doing!”

This is our first TRULY stinker season in almost 20 years (25 years if you throw out the Katrina season)…get a grip people. 😅

I wonder how significant it is that it was Mrs. B who made the announcement and apparently did the firing?

Very significant. She demonstrated she IS running this team. I’ve always liked Mrs Benson but now I have professional respect for her. She gave DA a legit shot and he blew it. She appears to have conferred with players and staff and pulled the trigger when she decided DA has given himself enough rope to be hanged.

The level of Hubris one must reach for their boss to step in and do their job is a level at which it is time to move on to a new job. It isn't bloodlust, it is simple logic.

He called a team meeting to put the players in their place and tell them Allen is their coach so get used to it... and half a season later... His BOSS steps in because she talked to the players and fired Allen... that is a cataclysmic failure... in a series of failures.

Word to the wise. Don't hire your friends is appropriate in most situations. All too often ends up in burnt bridges when the inevitable end comes.
