Former Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas has an NFL roster spot. After participating in a three-day rookie minicamp with the New Orleans Saints this weekend on a tryout basis, the Yellow Jackets great was added to the team’s offseason roster on Sunday as an undrafted free agent, according to Thomas’ representation.

Some competition for Grayson.

Edit looks like he is brought in at RB where he is listed in this scouting report. Could be more competition for Cadet and Murphy. He had over 4000 yards passing and 2000 rushing on his career.

I could see him being a threat on the halfback pass.

He's the 4th hopefully with the motivation of someone pushing Grayson he'll take a big step forward in his development.

The tryout was Thomas’ second, after an unsuccessful attempt with the San Francisco 49ers at their rookie minicamp last weekend. However, Thomas evidently made a strong impression on Saints coaches and management. Thomas began the three-day minicamp on Friday as a slot cornerback and did well, according to a spokesman for his agency, ESQ. He was then moved over to wide receiver on the second day, Saturday. The minicamp concluded Sunday.
It'll be interesting to see what position he ends up at.

I couldn't read the article because that stupid pop up wouldn't close. So...we're looking at him for WR or CB, not QB? Interesting.

He's not a QB. He was GT's QB because he was the most athletic guy on their roster. Reading about his pro day, he showed some utility ability. Reportedly ran an a 4.32 40. Interesting conversion prospect. It's a shame how many stellar athletes that have the talent to play in the league have their development stunted by learning to play a position or in a system they have no business at. I hate the nonsense option philosophy GT swears by.

Agree it doesn't help with development to the pros but I love watching old school wishbone/ flexbone triple I football. With the right personal it's almost unstoppable.

From his Wiki page

Rivals.com rated him as a four-star recruit in football.[1] He originally committed the University of Alabama to play college football but changed to Georgia Tech.[2] He made the change due to Georgia Tech offering him a chance to play quarterback.[3] Alabama had indicated that he would be used as a defensive back.

So GT got him because they promised him he would play qb, meanwhile a guy who actually knows how to utilize talent wanted to move him to db. Well tht certainly didn't end as he expected it.

Haven't seen his reps at DB but usually asking too much for a offensive minded player to transition to defense. It happens but it's rare. Has the instincts of a offensive player primarily a ball carrier in some compacity. He was a fun player to watch in college though a great athlete:
