Georgia Tech’s Justin Thomas has successful tryout with Saints (3 Viewers)

Just listened to Nick Under hill on 100.3 and asked about Justin Thomas he said right now he has no idea where he will play right now he should be listed as an athlete.

OTA's should give them a chance to see where he fits. WR, RB, WR, KR are the most likely

I don't think that designation exists past high school recruiting. If it did, I'm sure that's how he'd be listed right now, but you have to list guys at a position. The closest I've seen to "athlete" is listing TE's as TE/WR or CB/S, but nothing that encompasses both sides of the ball and multiple positions on both.

I hope he surprises me and makes the team. Especially that speed on special teams. Hopefully, worst case, He can make the practice squad to develop for a year.

Former Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas cleared a significant hurdle in his attempt to play in the NFL this past weekend, when he earned a contract from the New Orleans Saints with his play in the team’s rookie minicamp Friday through Sunday.

The next steps for Thomas: Deciding on a position, either cornerback or wide receiver, and learning both the team’s scheme and the position itself. One aspect of the jump that is highly encouraging for Thomas is that there’s a history of players making the same transition.

What Thomas brings are both tangible assets – speed, quickness and coordination, most prominently – and intangible qualities – dedication, football smarts, fearlessness – to give himself a shot. He’ll need patience, both from himself and the team, and ideally a plan from the team to develop him over more than just a few months.

Practice Squad for a year while he learns his new position....whatever it may be. He's a project.

Looks like they're thinking he fits best as a DB now, and that's why I think he'll wind up on the PS. But he could always surprise and be a special teams contributor. You gotta love that speed.

I hereby declare Justin Thomas and Arthur Maulet as the official 2017 SR training camp beasts.
