NFL Draft Get ready. I think we’re trading up. đź’Ż (71 Viewers)

Loomis has 4 picks in the third and fourth rounds. Plus an extra 7th.

But, what convinces me the most that we will trade is how many vets we signed at positions of need.

We rarely have top ten picks. Look at our draft history. So we aren’t trading down. We have a Louisiana connection thing going on. We could trade up for Will Campbell. The Raiders at 6 who want an excuse to draft Jeanty over other players are a prime candidate to trade down.

We don’t have the roster spots for 8 rookies. We will trade up. Even if we stay put at 9, we will trade up from
40.

What do you mean we don't have the roster spots for 8 rookies? We had no depth on this roster last year and haven't really added to it in free agency. We have plenty roster spots open for rookies.

As far as Campbell, I wouldn't like the pick at #9 much less moving up to #6 to get him. IMO, if they move up, and I don't think they will, it would be for Ward.

I agree, and I suspect its for Jeanty.

One reliable insider has already said on here that they’re looking into what it would take to trade up for Ward. Is it likely to happen- no, but the idea that they’re going to do things differently because of KM is also unlikely. If anything it’ll be because of the cost to move up being too high.

I’ll go on the record that if we trade up it won’t be for Campbell. Honestly I don’t think we’d take him if he was there at 9.

I want nothing to do with Campbell in the 1st round period.....he was a major disappointment last year at LSU, he is going to struggle in the run game at the NFL level IMO....

I think if we trade up it's either for a QB (Ward) or a splash offensive threat like Jeanty or that big X WR.....

Agreed.

I’d only trade up for Ward (and I don’t expect us to be able to top what others will offer if Tennessee doesn’t take him at 1).

I’m normally fine with trading up to get “your guy.” But we need to remake the front 7 on D and could use help at so many other spots.

I'd trade back not up. 3 top 100 picks + 3 we already possess would go a long way to replenish this roster.
I don't think you'll get 3 2025 top 100 picks for 9th overall. There would have be 10 deep with franchise stud potential and frankly this isn't that draft.

It's a very mediocre draft for the most part. Not an absolutely terrible one like 2015, but it's not a special one where there is good haul for pick 9. There is a 50/50 chance that the coveted blue chip players are gone.

I think I remember reading they had 11-13 players with a first round grade. We're not in a position as a team where we should be trading up for other than a franchise QB. We're in a great position to get one of the guys we covet. Loomis needs to demonstrate some patience and let the draft fall to us, rebuild our depth.

Well when you think about it, it was the OL that cost us the Eagles game and was a major contributor to our losing streak.
I watched a Pat Mcafee vid that detailed the drawback of a zone running scheme.

Supposedly zone running schemes, because they depend on the o-line working as a unit…injuries can kill the chemistry. Where as a man/gap scheme you can plug guys right in and it keeps going.

Now you look at the # of injuries we had on oline and the # of guys going in and out of the lineup and the idea makes sense

This is a perfect example of how important coaching is. I’ve known of some coaches that will bring all Olineman into a training session where they’re all watching 1 unit do several plays and switch players out. Even to the extent of guards switching positions and centers and guards so everyone knows and experiences what each other is supposed to do

Not so sure about that. The draft is average at most positions, bad at QB, really deep at TE, RB, DT and Edge. I don't think there is much there after the 4th round but that is not unusual. It is so deep at DT and RB that for some teams it will be a franchise making draft. So I wouldn't call it a bad draft.
