Outside of Brees, Armstead may be the most valuable player on the offense. When Armstead is out, Brees often get's skittish worrying about his blind, especially if he gets hit hard a few times in the game, as will all QBs.. When Armstea is playing, we definitely run better and Brees seems much for confident.

He's been out ten weeks now. Is the two week practice thing only mandatory if you're coming back at the 8 week mark?

The two weeks of practice isn't mandatory. It's an option. A player has to be on IR for 8 weeks. That's it. Players who a team suspects will be activated off of IR can start practice again after week 6, but it's not necessary.
