Greenberg tweets: "system failed miserably" (1 Viewer)

Schefter: "Roger Goodell said...."

:mwink:

That's brilliant!

Actually, the system worked great. The problem is that the system itself is seriously flawed. The system failure turned out to be the process that led to the drafting of the awful CBA.

The last part is the most telling. What exactly did Adam Schefter say that convinced him that the process was unfair and failed miserably?

I bet it was Schefter saying that the league told him this was it in terms of evidence. There was always the opening of "well, they HAVE to have more than this, they don't HAVE to show everything now," and it's gone with Schefter saying the NFL told him there wasn't anything else.

Agreed, this is the one thing that I did not quite understand how we could accomplish. The only way we could have a real financial affect would be to stop going to games, but that would hurt Tom Benson and the team.

yes its more than that. you can stop buying official NFL gear, but in reality that hurts local retailers as well.

The league gets most of its money from TV and merchandise. I think the team get most of its cash from game tickets (i could be wrong here). What are people to do?

Bring signs for the camera's at the game?

^^^This is the only one I don't agree with. Sure, as Saints fans, we can stop buying NFL licensed product, but in the grand scheme of things, how much will that really affect the NFL's pocketbook.

The only other way would be to stop buying tickets to the games, but then we are hurting our team as much or more than the league as a whole, both from a financial standpoint and from a HFA standpoint.

From my standpoint... all activities related to Saints' games won't change for me, except for road games. I most likely will no longer be traveling to Saints' road games.

Also, probably more importantly, I will no longer be tuning in to NFL Network or ANY NFL games not related to the Saints. Certainly I'll look up the score (not from NFL.com) on games such as Falcons, Panthers, Bucs, etc, but I won't watch any non-Saints game.

It would be nice to have the states of Louisiana & Mississippi to have horiffic ratings for NFL games across the board that don't involve the Saints.

Fans can boycott buying Saints merchandise from nflshop.com, and the other major online retail outlets. Instead fans can buy merchandise from local merchants such as louisianaonlinemall.com and fleurtygirl.net. I think there are some other local merchants which don't sell NFL licensed products as well.

IMO, the way to go is to buy 100% bootlegged gear from people you want to support.

Greenberg is backing the Saints now??? Oh, my God! Pigs really HAVE flown!!! As I recall, he was one of the most vocal critics of the Saints back when this story broke.

If Goodell's advisors are being honest with him, they will tell him to take De Smith's advice because no matter what, this will not end well for the league if Goodell doesn't change the punishments, from the GM down. The media (with a few exceptions because some people really are sheep) will never accept the Saints players weren't railroaded with the so-called "evidence" the NFL produced when the need for good evidence was clear. He will lose a great deal of his credibility if he continues in the direction he has, and the NFL will suffer. HE is guilty of conduct unbecoming to the NFL and is "sullying the shield."

I think reducing the suspensions could show that the Ommissioner has some compassion, but the league would still know how serious about PFI and PFP punishments he will be.
