FA Guard Dillon Radunz visiting the Saints (110 Viewers)

I like him. I liked him in the draft. He shows a lot of flashes of being really good but also a lot of flashes of not being good. He's young and its possible he wasn't coached up correctly for whatever flaws he has but he's mean and loves to hit. It's probably why he's good in the run game but isn't in the pass game.

Take note. The Olineman we've been bringing in were all better in the run game then the pass. Moore may just have a crush on Penning. lol. Maybe we're not looking at rookie QB's much at all. It wouldn't make sense to bring in Olineman who excel in the run game but can't pass block well, then draft a rookie QB to pass the ball.

Allowed 6 sacks to go w/ 5 penalties last year, 23 pressures, and 2 hits. You better be adding competition so he turns into depth, but you could do worse if he ends up being your starter.

For comparsons Penning gave up 5 sacks, 4 hits, 54 pressure, and 13 penalties...good god i didn't realize it was that bad

I take the above back, he'd be a starter.

Well, Clapp is already there for depth. I think we’re out of good free agency guard options, at least for a starter.

Titans fansided board:

Dillon Radunz

Dillon Radunz entered the 2024 offseason as one of few holdovers from the Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson era. New head coach Brian Callahan and his father, offensive line coach, Bill Callahan, appeared to agree that Radunz was better utilized at guard than offensive tackle. Despite that, they signed Saahdiq Charles in free agency, who immediately became the favorite to start at right guard.

Charles then abruptly retired in August at age 25 during training camp and Radunz became the in-house favorite to replace him. The former North Dakota State standout performed at a league-average level throughout 2024. Missing a few games during the second half of the campaign, Radunz attempted to battle through injury and inconsistencies. His performances often wavered.

Radunz is now scheduled for free agency and it's difficult to envision the Titans possessing a ton of interest in re-signing him. General manager Ran Carthon did not draft him, and the Callahan's didn't view him as their first-choice starter until they were left with fewer alternatives. The right side of Tennessee's underperforming offensive line was consistently its Achilles Heel this season, though Radunz was often the lesser of two evils, compared to whichever right tackle started that week.

He tore an ACL at the end of 2022 but seems to not be hampered by major injuries recently.

Drafted in 2021:
Radunz was drafted by the Titans in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
  • 2021 Season:
He logged his first career NFL start at left tackle on Thursday Night Football against San Francisco.

  • 2022 Season:
Radunz set a career high with four starts, including two at right guard and two at left guard.

  • 2022 Injury:
He was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL on December 22, 2022, ending his season.

  • 2023 Season:
Radunz returned from the injury, playing in 16 games with 11 starts, including starts at four different offensive line positions (right tackle, left guard, left tackle, and right guard)

  • 2023 Injury:
Radunz suffered a knee injury in Week 15 against the Chargers, which left the Titans' offensive line thin.

  • 2024 Season:
Radunz was named the starting right guard for the 2024 season.

  • Radunz was credited with allowing six sacks and 23 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.

  • Radunz is a natural in a zone-based system.

He seems like a servicable player, not a star, but lucky to be free of the Titans. Certainly affordable.
