FA Guard Dillon Radunz visiting the Saints (42 Viewers)

I figured that's what Clapp was.

Doesn't sound we're going after a bonafide starter but rather a young guy who hasn't fully panned out. Let him, a rookie and Sal compete to be the starter.
I’m not saying Clapp couldn’t fit in a swing tackle or desparate injury need at G, but even he himself in his interview with NOLA media said he’s been considered a center for a while now.

I thought he was both G/C but I hope he's better at center. We need legitimate depth behind McCoy.

He could serve as Guard and Tackle depth like Landon Young and Udoh did. Saints like versatile G/Ts in OL depth. He could be Udoh’s replacement with upside to start at LG while Guard is addressed early in the draft.
To me that’s an ideal fit for him but I think most on the board are expecting a starting G in FA so I tread carefully.

Allowed 6 sacks to go w/ 5 penalties last year, 23 pressures, and 2 hits. You better be adding competition so he turns into depth, but you could do worse if he ends up being your starter.

For comparsons Penning gave up 5 sacks, 4 hits, 54 pressure, and 13 penalties...good god i didn't realize it was that bad

I take the above back, he'd be a starter.
By comparison Cross the #9 rated OT gave up 6 sacks and 8 penalties

I trust Nugent and Paganetti with who they want for the OL . I especially trust their decision to not sign Becton. Don't count Saldiveri out, he was injured so much that he did not get the reps he needed in. Plus he had Marrone as OL coach his rookie yr.

He helps set the floor as functional in case we can't do better in the draft. Given the scheme, I'd actually prefer him to Patrick. More athleticism at their respective ages.
Bigger offensive lineman (6'6 G) as opposed to the diminutive 6'2 G who couldn't hold up vs bigger interior lineman but was good enough to get in the way in the zone blocking scheme to appear effective.

Whether this guy is being looked at to start or not the archetype is what we should be paying attention to this off-season.

I was surprised to see that Patrick is listed as 12 pounds heavier than Radunz.

Yeah he's got the height but he's light for a Guard at 306#. He would be better suited as a LT. He's even light to play RT. They usually run about 315 to 320. We need 320# Guards to match up with those big DT's and NT's.

You should mainly look at sacks, hits, penalties to determine how good of a year an OL had in any given year because PFF's pressures are a made up stat...
It wouldn't be useless if they only used pressures that resulted in an incompletion, an interception, or a tackle for a loss... but they don't...

It is a garbage stat!
