Hamstrings and Groins (1 Viewer)

The whole field goes into and out of the stadium during the week so the grass can get sun. I don't see how they could do that in the dome, though. They'd have to bring it in on rolls and roll it out every week.
I think this would be the only option for the dome barring a major reconstruction project. They would need to bring in and lay fresh turf every week. If the league mandated it, this would prob the solution initially.

Can we lay grass in the dome? Does anyone do that?
Real grass would just die. The Saints did install a real grass surface in the Dome once before, but it was a very pricey and time consuming option for a playing surface.

Allegedly the FieldTurf surface has been tested thoroughly and shows that there is much less stress to soft tissue and joints as compared to natural grass surfaces. They also compared how it affects players in weather conditions that would make the turf slippery like rain & snow.

I really don’t believe the artificial turf is the issue. The Saints may just be soft. Or very, very unlucky. :covri:

I think a lot has to due with the synthetic turfs we use. If you’ve ever walked on the stuff with the pellets it’s a weird feeling. The turf is somewhat sticky and the pellets under your feet are squishy and not very stable.

I don’t think we had these many injuries when we played on the old style Astro turf with concrete under it.

If the NFL is for “Player Safety” like they claim, every team (Domes included) should be mandated to use only natural turf.
OK then what's the Pels excuse???

Can we get an investigation and route cause analysis on these freaking injuries already? Implement some corrective actions? These soft tissue injuries are getting stupid. Does the water smell or something? Taste bad? Do we not stretch? Seriously what is happening?
Common denominator for both the Saints and Pels — Ochsners trainers. I’d start there

Being a Pels fan....this happens to them every season, too, going back over a decade. They're currently down their 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th best players for meaningful time.

So I'm not ready to blame the turf.

Didn't they overhaul the ochsner trainers and docs and few years ago?

Do we have no Catholics who have brought sage to the Dome and Blender?

It’s possible, but you would need special grow lights.

Even the most shade tolerant grasses (StAug) still needs 6hrs of direct sunlight per day to perform and grow.

Bermuda is the best type for sports and it needs more like 9-10hrs per day of sun, especially with how they will treat it up, on top of that you’ll need air flow also. It’s possible, but it would be a major chore to maintain and the team would never do it.

In Vegas and Arizona their field sits in basically a giant tray on a track and they slide it outside when there’s not a game and it’s mostly natural, that’s the only way they get to play on grass indoors.

This post would brought to you by your favorite landscape contractor from Orange Beach lol

Are grow lights an option?

The new stadium for Real Madrid uses artificial light, and other features, to maintain a natural grass pitch, but it’s apparently a very intricate process and incorporated into the design of the stadium that is beyond anything that could currently be achieved with the Dome. The problem is combining the surface and necessary technology, while maintaining the multipurpose functionality of the venue.

I’ve posted a short video before of the technology used in their stadium and it really is fascinating.

Here’s an article that explains what went into the design and maintenance of the grass surface.

This started when they changed training camp. Where they have lighter workouts. Football is a very physical game.. you have to work and train physically to be ready and it shows by all the injuries. Also they need to go back to tackling instead of launching themselves!
