He's an incredible actor and I'm sure he'll do great in the role, but it seems kind of risky to cast a guy who will be 80 this year for what will be a decade long project (they claim 7 years, but in this current era of TV production there is zero chance they get out a season every year of a project this big.).

But then, I guess they've dealt with that before.

To me Lithgow is easily the best thing about the movie

he is, the movie is peak cheese... but i mean its Santa Claus in the 80s. This movie caused me to really not like Dudely Moore. But I did like "Like Father, Like Son"
