i appreciate you sharing all of that - and i value what you say
for me 'not racist' is not a destination but a process - in a way like how people talk about marriage being work
a guy declaring "I'm a good husband" seems a bit suspect bc he's only part of the equation - and I would infer that him saying 'i'm a good husband' is actually a bit suspect - him saying "I try to be a good husband" seems a more apt framing

most of the board knows my wife is AA and therefore my kids are - and I would never declare myself 'not racist' and I can't imagine how hard she would roll her eyes (at best) if I ever did say something like that
but I continually run up against (usually small) prejudices here and there that I must acknowledge and need to work on
I don't think i'm bigoted, but I certainly have prejudices
That’s fair.

It’s not racist at all. It has everything to do with the description of Snape in the book. The description helps portray Snapes Identity and why he is the way he is.

Call it what you want I suppose I don’t really care. I am not a racist.

You'd be surprised how many book characters are portrayed slightly different from a description in the book. It just seems like height, age, hair color, weight, etc are never as a big a deal for some people as skin color. It's always skin color and it's always the same crowd. That's why people here knew to expect it.

I know this actor from Gangs of London and thought he did well in the role. I've never seen him in a fantasy role so it will be interesting if he accepts. He must've showed something though for the showrunners to offer to him. It wasn't offered to him just because he was black as was implied.

Driver doesn't seem like the kind of guy to commit to something that's a decade (or more) long commitment like this or even be interested in it. He did his franchise time with Star Wars and I don't think he liked it all that much.

Race issues aside, the rumored guy doesn't look like a good choice for Snape at all. Way too handsome. Snape is a greasy, weasly goth weirdo.

I have never seen a goth black person. I am not saying he couldn’t pull it off I am just saying I am very doubtful. But to be fair I think Driver is the only person I can think of that can pull it off.

Same as Deadpool. I don’t think there is anyone out there that could replace Ryan Reynolds. Bill Cosby as Mr Huxtable. Will Smith the Guy in Legend. Bruce Willis in Die Hard.

Murphy would be great as Voldemort. Honestly, he could play Snape well too.

But, I doubt he would commit to something that takes this much time for this long. Although I guess the Voldemort role isn't really very big until very near the end of the story depending on how they adapt the books.
