Head Coaching Candidates for 2025 (2 Viewers)

I'm truly interested in seeing what Rizzi can do in his audition, as well as Joe Woods. If he wins just double the games Allen did, keep him.
I get your point, but I'm worried that doesn't give us the reset that we need.

I again...don't think we need a reset. First two games says this team is capable of a lot w/ a healthy roster, despite being in salary cap hell. Yes it needs depth, but I think we can all agree better coaching could have, and should have done more w/ what we had...especially in the Eagles/Falcons game. Those were supposed to be wins, should have been wins, and aboslutely could have been wins.

That's w/ current roster...everything else is a toss up but at beginning of the season i felt this was a middle of the road team, w/ a chance to be good. That hasn't changed IMHO other than the injuries and roody poo coaching from Allen.

I enjoy doing tear downs in madden, and rebuilding a team completely from scratch...just haven't seen where this is a bottom 25 roster to make me say YEAH concede it's over.

I thought he had them playing well, led a moribund franchise to respectability and eventually a playoff berth, had Kyler Murray playing at a high level, then suffered an injury-ravaged final season that got him canned.

I still think something is there. He led them out the depths, so it shows he at least CAN win, and he was young and it was his first shot.

As far as the “Who has he beat?” argument…you can only beat who you have on your schedule, and that’s been a problem in Washington, regardless of opponent, up until now.

You are what your record says you are, and they’re dominating a weak schedule the way they are supposed to. If they themselves were weak or fraudulent, they wouldn’t be sitting at 7-2 and in first place; they’d be looking more like we do when WE play weak schedules.
Well the rest of their season will tell because they are headed into the strongest part of it

He is getting a chance. This is it right now. I personally think we need a total change. We've already gone through three years with one of Payton's guys. I don't want to do it again.

He gets to be the HC for 10 games, but I don't think he's getting a true chance, as in getting hired in the offseason, then have camps, preseason to install what he wants to install, with the people he wants. Right now he's being asked to make the proverbial chicken soup.

I'm not against total change, BTW.

We added 2 games??

When I say reset, I don't mean shipping or cutting every player we have. I mean bringing a fresh set of eyes to evaluate the roster via a new coach/GM. Keep the guys who fit the new vision and slowly phase out (trade or expiring contract) the guys who don't fit the new vision. My concern is that if we stay in the house, we will retain remnants of the old regime, particularly in the front office. This happens in most new coach situations and we never began that process because we went with the deer.
Out with the old, in with the new.

The move to elevate Rizzi to Interim HC makes sense. After all he was the Assistant HC. My only problem is that if we go outside for a new HC, we’ll probably lose him as a ST Coordinator. That’s not a reason to not go outside if there’s a better external candidate, but it would be unfortunate because the special team play is one of the few positives this season.

Rizzi is one of the best ST coaches out there, why wouldn't a smart new HC not keep him? If he didn't he's probably not the right guy

For all the ranting and raving some of you are doing, ML is not going anywhere and he probably shouldn't yet. For those of you that keep griping about the cap, they way we handle the cap has never stopped us from signing anyone we really wanted period. If you are pointing to the cap as the reason why we don't have quality depth across the board, no team will pay starter $ to backups because they think they will be decimated by injuries.
Our problem is we have mishandled the draft in not only our selections but also the trading up we've done. And drafting well is where you find quality depth and for cheap.

You can blame ML for part of that but not too much because ML is not much of a football guy. While ML has the final say on the draft I'd bet $ he would always defer to SP on picks and trades so you can blame SP really for Davenport and the lack of a 1st in 19 and for the success and more so failure for 18-21
ML, DA and JI get the credit/blame for 22-24 and I think more of it falls on DA and JI because just like I said ML is not much of a football guy and he knows it so I don't think ML is saying " let's not take this QB because his footwork is bad or this LB because his 40 time or 3 cone drill is not where it needs to be, he's going to defer to the coaches and the scouting dept.
What our next HC needs to be is a great talent evaluator. a bright offensive mind and a good to great motivator with an attention to detail and a stickler for accountability because that's what a non football GM needs to be successful and to not put ML in the position to control the draft

Have fun with this, I'm sure most people will write it off as hate from a former division foe.

C'mon man , NO ONE has hated the Saints more than Steve Smith Jr . He said it when he was player and he said it when he left. It would be like Cam doing commentary on the Failclows. You can't take SS seriously he let's his bias show in every broadcast he does
