HOF Chances Among Active Coaches According To The 33RD Team (1 Viewer)

Rivera won’t get in. However, on looking at HOF chances, I found some interesting comparisons.

For instance, a challenge to the house - Place the following five coaches in order from most all-time regular season wins to least:

Ron Rivera
Bum Phillips
Lovie Smith
Jack Del Rio
Bill Walsh

I also didn’t realize that Mike McCarthy has three more regular season wins than Sean Payton.
I'll say
Rivera
Walsh
Del Rio
Lovie Smith
Bum Phillips.

Rivera had a pretty good stretch with Cam at Qb. The Panthers did go 15-1 in their Sb year.

I would not put any on that list above Steve Walsh face. Steve is a Hof coach and had all those great niners teams full of Hof players

Switch Walsh and Del Rio and you’ve got it.

Rivera - 98 regular season wins
Del Rio - 93
Walsh - 92
L. Smith - 92
Bum Phillips - 82

Rivera, Del Rio and Lovie Smith’s totals really surprised me.

Most regular season wins for a coach with a losing record: Norv Turner, 114-122.

Can’t disagree with anything on this list. I will say though that Kyle Shanahan may quietly be one of the top 3 coaches in the game today.

The list is for total wins, not how many SB's he's won. Walsh took over a bad football team. The Niners were the worst
team in the NFL in the mid to late 70's. ( yes, worse than our Saints ). He only went 8-24 in his first two seasons
and 3-6 in the strike year of 82. He only coached 10 years. I put Rivera over Walsh simply because he has coached
a lot more games, and should have more wins.

Btw, You,ve got your Walsh's mixed up. Bill was a coach. Steve was a Qb.

I never understood why Norv Turner was given so many chances.

Ok. I just googled it and that's what was recorded
The google quote you saw was taken from his HOF bio. I saw it as well.

here is what it says. Notice how it includes post season games.

In his 10 seasons as head coach of the 49ers, Walsh compiled an impressive 102-63-1 mark that included 10 wins in 14 postseason games. Under Walsh, the 49ers won six NFC Western Division championships and NFC titles in 1981, 1984, and 1988. His Regular season total was 92-59-1

CSP in, sooner or later. His legacy is way better than his record. Talking about Katrina. Revolutionizing the NFL offense in 2011. Going 7-9 four times literally without a defense (or a QB). Also everybody knows he would have played another SB without Cavaletto. A QB wizard, making the most out of Bridgwater, Winston and (spectacularly) Taysom Hill.

McCarthy, should definitely not be in. Had a great record with Rodgers in his prime, but nothing else.
