I don't think Payton will crash and burn in Denver, but I don't think he will win a Superbowl there either. Wilson is like 35, and it will take @ least 2 to 3 years to build up that offensive personally to Paytons players that can execute his offense.

If Payton wins a SB in Denver, then he passes Reid as the second best coach of this generation. He also would be talked about as maybe a top 10 all-time HC.

The HoF process for coaches is a lot easier between 2023 and 2025 with the new provision. They separated coaches out from player slots and put them in the coach/contributor slot which is max 1 per year.

Note the process for coaches and contributors has been revised a few times in the last decade and a half. It wasnt too long ago that a coach getting into the HoF meant one less player got in.

Also it should be noted that the Coach/Contributor committe is not a panel of all Sport Writers. From the very small set of NFL HoF electors , only 12 are appointed by the Full set of selectors to be on the Coach/Contributor and Senior Finalist Committee.
