Hot Takes Welcome (Post Falcons Win) (2 Viewers)

We found our HC. Take the interim tag off. The players played hard and showed passion. Dudes that we thought were lolly gagging out there under DA, are making key plays. DA brought out the worst of players, Rizzi is bringing out the best.
Nah, one game and it wasn't pretty. He's going to need to string a bunch together before he gets rewarded with the gig.

Yeah. Really good start, but he has to show he can maintain it after the emotion of a new head coach calms down.

And, if they do keep Rizzi as HC, they really need to let him pick his own staff and not just stay with the guys we have now.

Every coach on the team is in a trial period even if Rizzi is retained as HC.

Not a hot take really, but

Im not sure if Rizz is the answer long term. Mostly because with Allen gone, the most pressing need of this franchise is a new GM.....which in turn would lead to that GM selecting his own HC.

But I LOVE the energy. He is everything Allen wasn't. I have no earthly idea, less than before, how any of the SSP's or DennisDefenders allowed themselves to believe Allen was the answer to anything. The guy had nothing as a HC. Nothing to make you believe he could be. By the end of the 1st quarter, Rizzi had put out as much energy as Allen did the 2.5 years he was here. Its gotta be embarrassing to have supported him through all of it. If that bothers you, well, yeah.

I guarantee, Allen would've figured out how to lose that game. I said this the first couple of games of the Allen era. Good coaches figure out ways to win close games, bad coaches figure out how to lose them.

Makes you wonder what could've been had we just had a coach that wasnt a walking torpedo of his own team.

It would be the most Saints thing ever to win just enough games for a mediocre draft pick but not enough to make the playoffs.
That said, hard not to root for Rizz and if he does lead them to the playoffs gotta make him permanent.

7-10 probably still gets you a top 10 pick.

Rizzi going 5-2 or better(to get to 8-9) the rest of the way is fairly unlikely tbh.

I say this with all respect - I don’t get the obsession with 1st round draft choices. I understand that you can absolutely find some studs in the draft in any round really, but I would rather this organization make themselves attractive to proven, stud free agents and coaches at every position, and I think you do that by having a respectable season to show that there’s something to work with. Again, I’m not trying to argue.

They played with heart and they were up for the Falcons at home but this is still a bad team that barely got this one. I don't see too many more wins coming regardless. But If the last gift the team gives us this season is a Falcons loss, I'm good.

Not sure if I agree, especially since some players (notably McCoy) will be returning soon....
