Up 1 with 1 min left on the clock?

All of us knew exactly what was going to happen. All of us.
I will admit that as soon as we scored to go up one and there was a minute left of the clock -
I turned off the TV and went outside to do yard work. I didn’t need to watch what I knew was 100% inevitable.

Everyone will blame the loss on the injuries but that's just cope. It was not injuries that gave the Falcons 14 free points.

The first two games where a mirage...we are not as good as we thought we are. Allen is a mid coach and Carr is a mid QB. We lack weapons on offense and are forced to feed Kamara and Olave. We lack depth and the team is old and needs help at almost every position.

Davis, Mathieu, Jordon, Latt, Kamara days are numbered. We can't afford to pay these guys anymore and we need both draft picks and young talent.

If you're happy with a team that can win 7-9 games a year and maybe get a lucky playoff berth to get dunked on in the 1st round then this team is for you.

I don't really care if Allen and Carr win another 9 games this season. I don't care if they make the playoffs. I don't trust them to take us to the next level. I am ready for a change and I am willing to accept that we may suck even worse then we do now, but that's how football works. You take chances with coaches and QB's until you get one that works.
This. A lot of fans are in denial.

Our defense is good for 58 minutes.
That should have been enough, but Allen leaving points on the board.
Eventually defense has to close games out for us. Doesn’t matter what happened in the prior 59mjnutes. We got the lead with 60seconds left no timeouts. Defense has to get the stops. We are the worse 2 minute defense in the league it seems.
The players aren't the problem. It's the scheming. Morris sent pressure at Carr because you want to force a short pass. Allen rushing 3 because he's afraid to lose a game calling the defense the same way he did when we were playing catch-up.

I’m tired of the injury excuse. Every team has injuries. Good teams find ways to win.
If you're a team with limited depth, injuries absolutely can and do derail seasons. Even great teams have a hard time winning if they have injuries at key positions. I'm not putting this game on injuries tho. Shaheed muffing a punt and Carr throwing a freak pick 6 hurt.

That said, the going for it on 4th when not necessary bugs me. Kick the FG and take the points. Both the last 2 games, those points off the board were the difference in the game.

Just no...the prior 59 minutes absolutely does matter. No idea why anyone would think it doesn't.

Taysom Hill is MVP of this team. We lost last week because he was out. Lost this week because he didn’t play 2nd half.
Taysom is a freak of nature. But unless he can get healthy enough to average 15-18 touches a game then the Saints are doomed in your scenario

The Shaheed mistake hurt for sure. But it was very early and we looked like it had been overcome.

The pick 6….what kind of play design has the DE allowed to run untouched to the QB? Maybe should’ve thrown it away.

The OL did better than I hoped, but in the second half they were ineffective in the run game, especially the right side (Penning). Never seemed to give Carr enough time for deep shot either.

We need another weapon on the O side. We get virtually nothing from the TEs.

The D played plenty good enough to win but for the ill timed PI at the end. Can’t keep making critical mistakes at critical times no matter how good you play the rest of the game. Remember the old axiom one oh $*£+ wipes out 10 attaboys!

2 All-Pro Players (McCoy, Davis) 2nd best LB Gay out with a hand, Taylor, Hill, No Starting Right Guard, Kamara still 100+ scrimmage yards and a TD with broken rib, Olave hobbled, Mathieu Out, second string RB softer than tissue with his viewing self still out finally practicing this week etc etc!!!!!!

Hot take: all the net yards the falcons gained on their game winning fg drive were the 30 yards of the dpi. they got 5 yards on the first play of the drive and then lost 5 yards on a false start before the next play after.

i cannot remember the last time the saints got a very late game flag when trailing (not just tied) that put them into position to win the game.

You can't expect a DB to hold up when you don't help him with a pass rush. Allen coaches like a whimp at the end of games. He too concerned with dropping everyone in coverage because he's terrified of the deep ball. But all he does is give experienced veteran QBs time in the pocket to make him look more stupid.

Great post, agree completely. We’re in purgatory and it’d be nice if the GM had the ambition to at least attempt to break out of it.

The goal for every team is to win a Super Bowl. Surely when you have a HC and QB who’ve shown no signs of ever being capable of delivering that, you make a change.
