How long should a successful rebuild take? (1 Viewer)

I think it’s because most people think “five years of losing” when you say that.
You can still be competitive during that timeframe.
Also to most people not winning playoffs each year is losing. We have to accept that 7 to 9 win seasons are much more satisfying for a few years than what we are experiencing right now.

And you’re in a weak division. For now.
You’re not in the dogfight for the NFC North.
The AFC West belongs to Kansas City for the foreseeable future.
A rebuild in the South could be faster.

My thought is this with our Cap situation things are a bit different. A 1 year turnaround isn't going to happen unless we find Payton 2.0 as HC. You use the next 2 years to build up a core and find a QB. 3rd year you can sign some free agents and maybe contend for the play offs. 4th is when you really see what you got. Sadly Mickey is our GM and has no talent for finding players. And much to our chagrin we won't be finding a QB in this draft.

If we did it when we should have we’d be rolling with Jayden Daniels at QB and a stacked roster. Now it’ll probably take 3-4 years as our vets are too old to get value by trading and our new core will be too old by the time the rebuild is shaping up and we have to find a QB while flushing dead cap space.

We’ll be lucky to get there by 2030 with Mickey Loomis running things.

I think every rebuild is unique.

If we TRULY went into rebuild mode, we really need 3 years to fix/reset the Salary Cap. Combine that with incremental improvements and give the new regime a chance to start fresh with the cap and 2 years of trying to sign some free agents.

5 years if we stop playing kick the can with and eat our cap manipulations.

This is a must,IMO. Stop kicking the can! We are already one of the worst teams in the league and we have the worst cap situation as far as I know. Just eat shirt for a few years and start over with a clean cap and 3 years worth of (hopefully) good draft picks to start with.

A team with some decent young talent and cap space is only a great HC and QB away from contending.
