We don't really get any Niner's games here in NOLA. So, I mostly just get their highlights. I'm sure his hire, would change our draft and FA options. Any insights?

The scheme has evolved to fit different rosters, our biggest need will be upgrades to the OL. I think we would need to be more McVay than Shanahan, operating out of 11 personnel with Olave, Shaheed, And Perry. Moreau is good enough, and Kamara and Miller should excel in a zone run scheme.

Watching some 2021 Vikings games, Kubiak ran a lot of similar pass concepts to what we did. What stands out after watching three games is more PA keepers and a better screen game.

He was the Vikings OC in 2021. That year they finished with the 12th ranked total offense. So good news, he’s got experience calling plays. The expectation based his time in Minnesota is that we will increase significantly (~50% increase) the amount of motion, we will see greater depth of target (~2 yards) and we should see a more efficient run game (~15% increase)

We hopefully they will find a legit LT draft/FA, and not try to force feed us Penning at RT. IF Ram doesn't prove effective any longer.

These discussions are always interesting to me because human beings have tendencies. That goes for coaches also. Good coaches, IMO, read the room and figure out what tools they have to work with, and what tools they feel are missing, but needed to create their masterpiece(s). I think (and hope) KK takes stock of the offensive skills already in the building and starts translating them into HIS tendencies. That will be revealed in time. But before any of us gets to see it, I'm wondering what other tools he feels are "missing". Again, a speculative exercise, as none of us knows for certain. But again referencing tendencies, coaches draw upon their established relationships and spheres of influence. To that end, I'm wondering what PLAYERS on the 9ers offensive side of the ball KK might bring with him?

I'm not talking pie-in-the-sky trades for frontline players like Purdy, McCaffrey, or Samuel. I'm thinking of younger players who may be up-and-coming but haven't gotten their shot yet? Or a FA that may follow KK to NO? Guys with familiarity of KKs offense, and KK likes 'em enough to bring 'em, and they're actually GET-ABLE. Mostly likely linemen, IMO, due to the big change (expected) in blocking scheme. I'm not familiar with the 9ers roster at all, and I don't know much about KK and his preferences. Anyone care to speculate who KK may try to bring into the B&G offense? Maybe they're not even 9ers....maybe they're Broncos who got lost in the shuffle when CSP took over? Or possibly even Vikings whose contracts getting ready to expire? Anyone care to speculate?

After watching five Vikings games, it seems Kubiak shares Shanahan’s preference for 12/21 personnel sets on early downs, particularly when running the ball. If he wants to run that here, he will likely be evaluating Johnson, Hill, and Prentice to see if they can be effective as the fifth skill player in his base run offense. Financial commitments to Johnson and Hill will likely put them on the field before we go shopping for replacements, but we can line them up in ways to give them easier blocking assignments and also benefit from any mismatches they find on those times we pass.

In those games, Kubiak ran 63% of the time with <3 WR on early downs and passed 83% of the time with 3+ WR.

I love these breakdowns, keep them coming.

Good stuff Rouxble! In YOUR opinion, what are the chances KK moves TH7 to that fullback/H-back role that I think he was born to play? TH7 needs to be on the field more, stressing defenses, IMO; but when he lines up in the backfield now, it's a telegraphed run. I'd like to see TH7 play that hybrid fullback/H-back role on the majority of snaps....sometimes handing off to him, sometimes sending out for a route, sometimes "checking down" in the flat, and sometimes just a decoy. Any chance (in YOUR opinion) KK deploys him in this way?

Referencing my earlier post that Rouxble responded to....anyone have thoughts on which 9ers (or possibly Bronco) players KK might recruit to implement his system and plug "holes" on our roster as it pertains to his system? 2nd tier guys who haven't got their shot yet, because starters are firmly entrenched in front of them? All speculation, of course!

I can't speak to this with any credibility, but what I will say is that I am sure KK went into his interview with a clear plan on how he would utilize and scheme around our offensive playmakers, and whatever that plan was was clearly something that the FO was excited about.

I don't know what that's gonna look like, but given he was top of the our list after his interview, and we were top of his, suggests he knows and likes the current roster, and that he feels confident that he will be supported by the FO in getting the missing pieces via both FA and the draft.

I'm certainly no expert on the scheme, and I think we will see some variation from what KK did in Minnesota due to Zimmer demanding a very conservative offense, but I do know that the Shanahan system really needs WRs that can block and WRs that can get YAC. I think we have YAC guys in Olava and Shaheed, but we will need Olave and Shaheed to develop into better blockers. I don't want to see 5 out there just to block all the time.

By the way, Underhill has an article that touches on some of this. I thin this is behind the pay wall, but FWIW, Nick is giving 20% off right now with the code motion:

He notes that the system will need blocking WRs and that it's less part of the West Coast system than what McVay does and what Carmichael/Payton do. The scheme attacks the edges of the defense which I take to mean it doesn't rely on crossing routes and slants, which conveniently Carr does not appear to do well and was bread and butter for MT. It also uses outside zone runs. So, it looks to devalue what a player about the be gone, MT, does well and a guy they are committed to, Carr, doesn't do well.

I think the idea of attacking the edges in the run game is you avoid the interior DL and MLB, really pressure the DEs to set the edge, and force smaller OLBs and CBs to make tackles. I think it's also why you need WRs who can at least block a bit to keep the LBs and safeties inside and block on the CBs who are forced into one on ones with RBs or WRs on screens and end arounds.

If it's the draft, I hope it's not the first round. I know the Saints need help on OL and at DE, but they keep drafting OL and DE in the first and keep getting nothing out of it.
