I believe we are in a win win situation (2 Viewers)

Agree completely. Each to their own but I can’t take another season of this HC/QB duo and I believe most of the fanbase feels the same way. There is absolutely zero point in winning a division with an 8-9 record just to get 40 dropped on us by Dallas.

Whatever needs to happen for Dennis Allen to go and a QB to be drafted is what I’m hoping for. If that means losing out from here then so be it.
And the other side of the coin is that we help the other teams by giving them early draft picks. I say force one of the other losers to win the division and we focus on a draft pick. But no more small school physical defensive ends. Do not let the guy who chose Turner and Davenport any where near the first round choices.

If the team would make the playoffs what is the point? Everyone knows they would get bounced the first post season game they appear in. They are a bad football team in a division full of bad football teams.

I believe we are in a win win situation right now. I say that because if we win the NFC South no matter how bad/weak in may be it’s a ticket to the playoffs. If it means keeping Allen another season so be it. Now if we don’t win the division then I believe Loomis/ Benson have no choice but to fire Allen and his staff. So that’s why I say it and believe it. Either way I will be happy.

Blinded by the schedule. I knew this would happen from jump. People would see a bunch of trash wins against trash teams in a trash division and it would extend the mediocrity another year. None of this makes you a contender. Or even a threat. Any other HC with this roster and this schedule would be 10-3, 9-4. The hand you are holding with Dennis Allen is the hand thats holding you down. He is THE reason we are 6-7, if he were a decent coach we might have clinched the division already.

Settling for this crap to get a playoff game against either Dallas or Philly is going to be a super reward youre asking for.

It was always going to be like this, regardless of the trainwreck this franchise is becoming. You have to purge Allen, no matter what the cost is. You dont let disease continue.

Our wins are against teams combined 21-56 - .273. Only 1 has a current winning record and that is in large part to playing the NFC and AFC South.

The current draft position our wins? 1, 1, 2, 6, 7 and 21.

Our losses are againt teams 49-41 - .544

This schedule is THE reason this thread even exists. Dont be blinded by it.

Anything single thing that keeps Dennis Allen in the building a day longer is not a “win”.

We will will lose one more game to either ATL or TB, and there is NO WAY we're beating the Rams. McVay will not be outcoached by DA. Mark my words.

What have you seen? Everything I have read has been essentially that we are still horrible and that this isn’t a time to pop champagne.

So what specifically has drawn this comment from you? Are people not allowed to discuss standings/playoffs even though we are tied for first just because we are horrible and are likely to get smashed in round 1?
who said people aren't allowed to discuss anything? i happen to think "if it keeps dennis allen around for another season, so be it" is the polar opposite of a "win/win" situation. we beat the worst team in football but by all means, start planning the parade route.

I see most people saying that winning hurts our draft position like a higher pick guarantees us a good player or franchise QB. Go back and look at our draft history. Our first round pick success is pretty much even regardless of where we pick. We have just as much a chance as selecting a bust with a top ten pick versus a top 25 pick. Just look at our previous drafts.

Also the only options I see being thrown out are win the division, get bounced first round, and miss out on a franchise QB. Or option 2 lose out and get our QB of the future and a new and better coach. If those are the two choices… sure option 2 is the way to go. I can’t understand anyone not wanting option 2 in that case. Let’s lose the rest of our games. The problem is that there’s a third option, and in my opinion the most likely of the possible outcomes, and that’s we lose the division, miss the playoffs, fire our coaches, draft a qb and still lose. New coach doesn’t improve anything. This time next year we are basically where the panthers are now. 1-2 wins and double digit losses. Fan base screaming for new coach to be fired. New qb labeled a bust.

I honestly think at best it’s a 50-50 coin flip that we get a better coach and better qb next year by losing out. More likely our chances our 25% or less. With those odds I’m not a fan a gambling. Let’s root for wins and see what the offseason brings. It honestly doesn’t hurt our chances of drafting a qb and/or improving on offense next year much in my opinion.

Winning and getting crushed in the playoffs, keeping the coaching staff, and dropping draft position is a big loss.
Exactly…its time to move the hell on from DA & co. After he bungled his way through year 1, DA got a fair chance to redeem himself w/year 2. He built the team in his image w/Carr & the coaches he brought in, but the results are what they are. DA pretty much
dookied the bed, the floor, the ceiling & his white PJ pants & continues to BS everyone who hears the post game pressers by telling all that the house hasnt all gone to complete crap. Straight up, DA’s a coordinator, NOT A HEAD COACH. U would utterly despise having to endure another season of DA at HC.

In the history of the NFL there are 10 coaches in the Super Bowl era with a worse record than Dennis Allen, and none of those 10 saw a 6th season as a HC.

In contrast, there are 184 coaches with a better record than Allen.

I like our chances to damn near close our eyes and point at a bunch of random people in a room and they could perform better than Allen.

50/50 is some kind of joke.

I would call it a win WHEN! Meaning, from the opening kickoff to the final second ticks off, we should have a 2 score advantage.

Don't count on Loomis making any changes if we go 2-2 the rest of the season.

Team Goals:
#1. Make The Playoffs
#2. Win The Division
#3. Win The NFC Championship
#4. Win The Super Bowl

If you don't reach goals 1 or 2 it's impossible to reach goals 3 or 4.

The Saints haven't reached the playoffs since the 2020 season. There are players on the team that haven't been in a playoff game in 3 years. There are young players on the team in their 3rd year or less that haven't played in a playoff game yet. I'm sure they all want that opportunity. That's the point.

Win or lose in the playoffs is part of the experience. A close loss or a blowout loss equals the same thing, elimination from the playoffs, nothing more and nothing less. Only 1 team out of 32 hoists the big trophy at the end of the day. Getting into the tournament is goal #1.
