I Don't Think Many People Want Our OC Position (1 Viewer)

You’re completely missing the point. I’ve not once said Caleb Williams is a slam dunk. The point is he’s an elite prospect and any OC with self belief will believe they can develop him into a top 5 QB.
Derek Carr has been anywhere from borderline top 10 to about top 15 his whole career (apart from one season a long time ago). No amount of self belief could lead any OC candidate to thinking they can make him elite.

Of course the end result is not guaranteed but there’s a very clear difference in potential and that obviously matters when it comes to appeal of a team.
Ehh
I'll let you win man. But I stand by what I said.

Because I could go and just have fun instead of having to talk about a job I don't want to people I don't care about and possibly don't like?

Because I wouldn't have to spend a large portion of my trip in Metry on Airline Drive?
But if you are in the market for a job, such as an OC position in the NFL, and a team (whether you want to work there or not), books a trip for you to come out to their city, then why not? Sometimes, just going out to a city, for a job, can change someone’s mind. Pretty sure SP and Drew didn’t really want to go to New Orleans originally. Look at what SP said and if you read Drew’s book, he said basically the same thing

You haven't lived till you try cross Airline on your way to the Huey P on Clearview at 5pm.

It was more fun before they widened the Huey P.

What does that have to do with just taking the trip because it's free?

Anyone disagreeing with this take is choosing to be delusional.

Not only is Carr a mid tier QB we also have a bottom 10 OL.

Two massive question marks at both OT positions.

Kamara is well past his prime.

No real #1 WR. (Olave high level #2).

I wonder if some of you know what it means to be an aspiring coach because if you did you'd realize that ego, motivation, and desire to prove you're the next great coach is exactly why an up and comer goes to a place that deluded fans think is no good.

it's exactly why CSP ended up here in the first place.

Do you remember the state of the Saints in 06 of have you all forgotten?

Yup, totally agree with this....I wish we were looking for another CSP type right now....but it is what it is.....

What, exactly, do you think we're looking for if not the next greatest thing on earth?

Do you folks really think DA and Loomis are out there striving for mediocrity? Seriously.

We may not have been as good as we hoped the past 2 years, but there's nothing that anyone can say that tells me that everyone in that entire organization isn't trying to win. Gayle is writing the checks. Loomis is Loomising. DA has run very good defenses and been plagued by injury and bad luck and so far he hasn't been Vince Lombardi or Bellichek, but that's not for a lack of trying.

I think the fact that DA is still here is fairly damning evidence that Loomis/FO/ownership are either just plain lazy/complacent, delusional or just totally satisfied with mediocrity.....that Loomis PC was a total clown show.....

Good as we hoped? Last year was a present, a gift of a schedule in the weakest division.....last year was an unmitigated disaster.....

It seems apparent to me that Loomis is out to prove he is the reason for the Saints successes and that is truly frightening to this Saints fan....

But, it is what it is.....and I sure hope I'm wrong but thus far DA has been a dismal failure here.....and I don't think any OC is going to fix that....

And I'm still happy whenever the Saints win, and I think the roster is pretty decent......just very concerned about the long term implications with this FO....

The long term implications are that we have unlimited money available and have been more than willing to spend whatever on whoever and that it's hard to win in this league. A bad bounce, a few injuries and some boneheaded plays / coaching decisions are the difference between 12 wins and 7.

Whether DA eventually wins is something we don't know, but after losing an all time great QB and our coach, it's pretty easy to understand what's happened the past 2 years and given the injuries and bad bounces it is what it is.

Some of you guys would be down on Loomis and DA no matter if we won 10 games this year and given the level of mediocrity that CSP tolerated and built on D for a decade it's amazing the credit he gets when with any decent D we win 2 or 3 more superbowls.

The long term implications are playing out exactly how they have for the Saints under the Benson ownership, we are holding onto to an inferior HC for too long....and those excuses are total and utter BS.....had we played just a normal NFL schedule this year our win total would likely be 6-7......

And your last paragraph is just ridiculous....CSP was far from perfect, but he won a lot more than he lost and we were in the playoffs most of the seasons he was here.....

I said before the season started if they make the playoffs than DA deserved another year, if they won 10 games he deserved to stay....they didn't, the rest is excuses and BS.....

As I recall, CSP had 3 consecutive losing seasons after catching lightning in a bottle in 06. DA has had one.
