I wish Vilma would stop broadcasting Saints games (1 Viewer)

100%. I was driving yesterday so I listened to the game. The radio call was so bad. Unpolished, awkward.
BECAUSE THEY DON'T DESERVE IT.

That interchange with duce made me cringe when Washington missed the FG that they ultimately said didn't count anyway because the quarter ended. That guy is in so over his head right now they need to just replace him now and use the rest of the season as an audition.

A. He's generally not very good and doesn't add much to the game.
B. He seems really biased against the Saints for some reason and it's super annoying.
C. I loved him in the B&G and I want to continue that love, but he's turning into a Chris Collinsworth level of annoying.

Couldn't agree more. Instead of getting any sort of "insider" or Saints-centric commentary, he seems to go out of his way to talk up the other teams. I can only assume he does so because he doesn't want to be labeled a homer. Unless he really is harboring a distaste for the Saints. But, either way, I find myself yelling, Shut up, Jonathan, at the TV a lot.

Contrast this to Deuce who gives us local scoopage but I don't consider it homer-y at all. It's just informative and honest.

Nobody asked: I think Tom Brady is really good broadcaster and I hope he sticks around.
Your funny doesn't matter who calls the game the Saints are a bad team nothing Vilma can call it how he sees it.

I think he’s awesome, just the right level of not droning on all the freaking time like Olsen or Aikman so I can watch the game and not be deafened by inane talking for the sake of talking.

He seems to love football, knows his stuff and I don’t think he’s biased against the Saints at all, he’s just calling what he sees.

He does sometimes make a weird urrraggghh noise during play I will say.

This didn’t start this year. He’s always done this.

But I don’t think of it as biased against the Saints. I look at it like when a parent that is a good coach coaches their kid. They will be harder on their kid so no other parent can say they’re showing favoritism.

Well, I think sometimes he is a little more positive and even times excited about the other team because if he does that stuff for us too much it looks like favoritism to the network and audience.

I wouldn’t say he isn’t good. He’s educated and well-spoken, he’s just in a tough spot when he does our games. Especially now that we are a bottom 3-5 team in the league.

I think Vilma is fine, but he did say something super questionable yesterday -- he said that Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller have the same running styles, which seems totally wrong to me. I'm not an expert at describing running styles, but if I had to try, I'd say -- Kamara is smooth, patient, elusive, low center of gravity, good at avoiding contact and shedding tackles (honestly he has a style of his own which is best described as "runs like Alvin Kamara"). Miller is a powerful north-south runner, runs upright, invites a lot of contact, wants to blow up the defender -- maybe more of an Adrian Peterson style? I may be off on my descriptions, but I feel confident saying they don't run the same style.

He's a shill. He's bought and paid for by the NFL. Listening to him cover a Saints game is torturous. It makes me want to vomit

I'm on your side with this..it's like 3 straight games listening to him.

I'm not expecting him to be rooting on everything the Saints do but he seems to go out of his way to pump up our opponent.

I never heard him question a penalty that goes against us either.

There's nothing wrong with Vilma's commentary.

The one that really got to me was his call when the Saints scored at the very end. It was something like "AND THE SAINTS HAVE DONE IT!!! But not yet! They still need to get an extra point to tie". It was like he forgot for a second that the TD did not put us in the lead. Very awkward-sounding. It's like he is trying to find his "Jim Henderson" quotable moments, and ends up forcing it too much.

I think he does a great job and really enjoy his broadcasts.
