I'd Feel Better about the Saints if... (66 Viewers)

Someone is really ticked off Loomis didn’t follow his advice on how to manage the cap and use a June 1 cut on Carr.
The thing about you gaslighters is y'all spend more time talking about other posters trying to convince them that everything is perfectly fine and provide nothing of substance or use. While others are talking about the team, how it could get better and more competitive. It's just a bunch of blah blah blah nothingness and meh emojis coming from a few of you.

Edit: Right on cue, I got "Meh-rled".

I didn't say anything about DA being anything other than unable to coach through the rash of injuries. And, I'd expect it would take a complete leap of idiocy to believe without them we wouldn't have been far more successful.
Once again, it’s a hypothetical, and you are assuming a guy who is one of the most historically losing coaches (of all time) would’ve been able to navigate the waters. DA’s fate was destined for him to be a failure of a HC. That we know by how both of his head coaching tenures have played out. Sure we wanted him to succeed, but personally, once I saw that guy sulk his chest and couldn’t give answers, or respond with any kind of fire, I wanted him gone. He is not what we needed in the end. In fact, his interim HC lit more of a fire than he did. So, we can all just turn the page on that brief DA era, and hope for the best with our new HC. If we get more positive play and results then cool, but if we yield the same results as in recent years (after giving KM some time), then there will be some REALLY uncomfortable conversations about ML.

There you go. You won’t have to worry about about anymore “Meh’s”. But do me one favor. Since you think you know more about how to manage an NFL cap than Loomis and Harley, then send an application into Gayle and Lauscha for one of their jobs. I will enjoy hearing their laughter up here in NH.

The ole cop out "you don't know better than them" defense. That's a classic oldie but goodie that continues the trend of talking about other posters rather than the team. You don't have anything to contribute so you're attacking me. I don't mind, but it shows what you have between the ears.

It's pursuing the high RAS potential guys that do us in here.

Eg we could have easily had Yaya Diaby or Tui Tuipaloto instead of Foskey, but they were wowed by his RAS. Imagine how much better our Defense would have been had we taken say Keanu Benton and Yaya Diaby in the 2nd and 3rd. But no we were mesmerised by some number.
Let's not forget Tom Brady, they must have passed on 5 times. Smh

JJ's dead money was converted into the contract which helped us with the cap and the guaranteed money is about the same so overall JJ was better financially and don't think either is the TE of the future.
Youngs contract too

Kinda sad when someone uses that defense. Guess nobody can have opinions on anything nowadays. SMH.

If they understood a rebuild.

I'm not convinced the roster is better than DA got out of it really. I think he was given the authority to make bad choices and many of those bad choices remain. Some of them have even been brought back after DA was fired. And that is my biggest problem with Loomis is that he has no self reflection on any of that. He thinks our drafts have been good, he thinks DA is a great football coach and shouldn't have been fired, and he thinks running it back as much as Gayle and finances will allow will prove him right.

And I don't say any of that out of anger or hate. It's just what he's showing us with the moves he makes and his occasional media availability. He was once the perfect fit for Payton's Saints, but he's shown to be a bad fit for the post-Payton era of Saints football. But I am at peace knowing that as the oldest GM in the NFL, that isn't also an owner, his time with the team is close to the end.
I don't think DA was allowed to run the offense he wanted, a power run game. That's what he said at his initial press conference. Instead they tried to hold on to Payton’s offense.

It Could get better it Could get worse. The offseason is supposed to be a time for optimism, for every team. If you want to be miserable 25/7 365 days a year. Enjoy

You’re making a presumptuous and misguided assumption that I’m miserable. Even suggesting that based on posts on a fan forum is pretty pathetic. I’m the furthest thing from miserable. My life is good.

The offseason is the time to talk about changes that the team could/should make for the next season. Optimism or the lack of it comes from what we see happen during that time. This offseason hasn’t given me a lot of optimism due to the run it back nature of the roster management. I began very optimistic when it came to the selection of Kellen Moore and I like many of the choices he’s made for his staff, but I feel like he’s being setup to fail in 2025 because of the roster.

You don't have to convince me
But how do you know what you see happening won't end up being positive, because I don't.

I’m not trying to convince you or anyone else. I’m sharing my opinion. I am happy for you to take it or leave it either way.

And I don’t know that running it back won’t be positive, but I have seen the majority of this roster before. So I’m basing my opinions on what I’ve seen before. Outside of Justin Reid, I’m underwhelmed by the moves this offseason. And didn’t go into the offseason thinking we were just a safety away from having a great roster.

What are we running back. Carr, Johnson, and Young were cap space moves. People I know were disappointed when Yiadom left. Clapp is from lsu, a backup.
