Man if MM can bring the leadership and a progressive youngish OC, maybe he has the feeling this might be one of his last opportunities to coach. Idk. But with the full backing of Saints upper management and the support of the rabid, best fans in New Orleans, I’m starting to get excited. Now let me get the cart back behind the horse and see him get hiredThese concerns are in fact NOT valid…
2021: Led NFL in PPG and YPG
2022: 4th in NFL in PPG and 10th in YPG
2023: Led NFL in PPG and 5th in YPG
Yes, he’s failed twice. He’s been fired and not renewed from two jobs with significantly better rosters than what the Saints are working with right now. He’s a failed coach twice? He won a Super Bowl in Green Bay. Three 12 win seasons in the past 4 years in Dallas. 9-5 record with the backup QB. I think we were 0-7 this year. People were drooling over Vrabel’s 54-45 (54.6%) record with the Titans. McCarthy was 49-34 (58.3%) in Dallas. He’s the best coach available.
Are some of you even Saints fans?If he was a Super Bowl winning coach recently he would not be looking at the Saints.
Why not keep Kubiak if he wants to work with him. After the first two games, he's obviously got some great ideas. Two offensive minds are better than one.Assuming he is the hire, who do you ask think he would bring in as OC or DC? Who has he worked with in the past that he could bring in? Who would y’all like to see him bring in for these positions? I read somewhere he could bring the DC from Dallas, Mike Zimmer? Thoughts?
This. With a new HC in DAL, Schott will likely part ways and land wherever MM lands.Probably Brian Shottenheimer
Hard to argue.Only skill talent Dallas had was Dak and Lamb under McCarthy. Cooks is way past his prime. Elliott and Pollard looked better than they were because of the OL.
McCarthy doesn’t get enough credit for maximizing mostly average talent into top offenses. The lack of receiving playmakers at RB and WR showed a lot in the playoffs once teams took away Lamb.
Dallas’ talent was largely overrated because of the Jerry Jones media hype. No other coach was getting 12 wins for multiple seasons out of those teams.
For me, it was a done deal that Mccarthy was going to be the guy when Jeff Duncan said the other day on a podcast that Loomis and Mccarthy play golf in Florida during the offseason.
Not my favorite choice, but I think it's already done.
I'm worried that Mccarthy might not be the guy for a multi-year process of retooling.Agreed. All tea leaves point to this being the case, including the fact that all buzz around McCarthy has ceased.
I think we simply just have to knock out the Rooney Rule compliance item first.
So much happens behind the scenes with these things, like the note you just pointed out. Wouldn’t be surprising to learn someday that McCarthy to the Saints was done weeks ago through back channels.
I'm worried that Mccarthy might not be the guy for a multi-year process of retooling.
It's not going to be a quick fix.
Everybody talking about McCarthy being old school and not progressive but if he chooses a progressive OC paired with a future exciting QB, maybe the Saints could be a future contender
