Moore wants to run the ball. We need someone who can run the ball, especially between the lines. AK still has juice but he is getting old. Pairing the two, with some help at the O line, would be great.

Please tell me where you get that KM wants to run the ball?? He has said it does not matter if we pass 50 times or run 50 times a game as long as we win.
Just because he had Barkley and great OL in Philly does not mean that that's what he WANTS to do. He's going to do what fits our personnel best.

Exactly. Considering Carr shouldn't throw more than 20 times a game and Rattler (IMO) shouldn't throw more than 15, how many of those passes will be 5 yards or less?

Tet wouldn't (or shouldn't) get more then 3 or so targets a game. The value just isn't there. If we get him fans will cry "why aren't you throwing to tet more!?" and the reasoning is simple. Our QB's suck and even if they didn't we're still a run first team.

Tet feels like a wasted top 10 pick for someone over near the sidelines blocking more than half the game.

I disagree, Tet would get way more than 3 targets a game. He's a YAC machine. He could very well be as good or better than Thomas.
Jeanty would split carries with AK and maybe Miller

If the Saints were playing for 2025 I’d agree. But they shouldn’t be. The Saints aren’t ready to contend with teams like the Eagles right now. Tet would very likely outlive Carr and Rattler.

I was thinking along similar lines. RBs are comparatively "less expensive" than WRs, and theoretically easier to find...especially if you can conjure up a RB by committee. In fact, I PREFER that approach over a workhorse/bellcow back that, if injured, tanks your run game. But with that said, both rooms are somewhat injury prone and thin.

So how to decide? Can we get a RB in the 2nd or 3rd that is an improvement over Miller, CEH, or Mims? Can we get a WR in the 2nd or 3rd that is an improvement over Olave or Shaheed? If the answer to either question is yes, then go with the other position. If the answer to BOTH questions is yes, pick the BPA at #9 and pick the other position in a later round when the value lines up with the need. But with all that said, Saints need an upgrade at a few starter positions; and an upgrade of depth all across the board. Other than QB, this draft class is supposed to align with Saints needs and is also deep. If that's true, IMO, this draft should be BPA every step of the way and let the chips fall where they may. Maybe we can start "targeting" wants next draft? But this draft, we have too many "needs" and "musts" to be targeting "wants". JMO.

With WR $ getting dangerously close to QB $ it's going to be beneficial to take a WR almost every yr just for cap reasons. We really don't know what we have in Miller he has shown flashes when healthy which he has not been much. Upgrading the RB position would be easier on day 2 than getting someone better than Olave and Shaheed on day 2.

I would go with Tet over Jeanty due to the fact that Jeanty would split snaps with AK and maybe Miller. Tet would play almost every snap and be the big contested pass catcher we have been missing since Thomas got hurt and was never the same. Plus if Tet becomes what I think he will we have him for 5 yrs on a rookie deal before he commands big $

As I wrote on previous threads. I want a player we can build around for years to come.

Since Moore wants to build the offence with the focus on the run game, Jeanty will be the option. Omarion Hampton could also be an option since he is a little bigger and more of a compliment to Kamara and Edwards-Hillaire.

Now, I am very curious of what may happen with Olave. I am not sure we will want to give him a mega deal and he may be an interesting chip to trade. If that is the case McMillan will be the answer.

I am still very interested in Tyler Warren, he will help both as a run blocker and as a great option moving the chains in third downs.

Please show me where KM said he wants to focus on the run game!!

I don't think Rattler sucks....he hasn't had a fair shot with the starters yet, cause everyone was hurt.

We need to see him with starters and then see what we have.

I'm not big on Derek Carr either but he definitely doesn't suck. We just won't win shirt with him.

However, if we can keep them both at 20 passes a game with the 3 headed monster we have Kamara, Jeanty*, Miller, Edward-Helaire....we should be safe with both QBs.

Well if Carr only throws 20 passes a game he can't be blamed for losing the game.. Ohh wait , what am I saying

This is how I view it too. There will RBs available in later rounds who can be the heir apparent and or sidekick to Kamara later in the draft. I’m not so sure there will be a big bodied possession WR1 available if Tet is available at 9 and we don’t draft him. Olave isn’t a #1 target you can rely on to win those contested catches consistently to move the chains or score, and every SB winner in the last 5-10 years is more likely to have a dominant #1 receiving option (whether at TE or WR) than the bellcow type RB1.

There are a few Big body X WR after Tet but Tet is head and shoulders above them. If we don't get Tet , then we could get the big contested catch guy in a TE like Warren. Or on day 2 we could shoot for Harris, Higgins ,Ayomanor,Bech. The most intriguing day 2 WR for me is Savion Williams , 6'4" 225 and has been used in the wildcat

You take McMillan and then take Skattebo with the next pick cause Jeanty will be gone. Skattebo may end up being the better back in the long run.

This also plays into what kind of contract Olave wants when it's time to negotiate versus what the team is willing to pay for someone with his concussion history. I'm sure some desperate team would be willing to overpay him; I just hope it's not us.

Having a true #1 WR and Olave as a #2 WR may also benefit him in the long run.

I don't think he has, but it's an easy assumption to make considering the Eagles strengths last year. However, that's the team they have built so he used it.

I discovered something last night when I was completing my Top 25 WRs from last year, both in Receptions and in Yards/Game. The Eagles had 2 of the Top 25 WRs in Yards/Game with AJ Brown at 83 yards/game and Devonta Smith at 64.1 yards/game. I thought that was an interesting stat considering how much they ran the ball with Barkley and Hurts.
