Has anyone brought up Steve Smith's comments on Tet? In a nutshell he's basically saying people are overrating him to some degree and that he'll run a limited route tree.

He's not a clean prospect, that's for sure. I posted earlier in this thread or the other thread that he would be 5th behind the top 4 WRs last year. Even the supposed top WR last year, Marvin Harrison Jr struggled and has questions. Anyone who watched Nabers knew he was the real top WR in the 2024 draft.

I'm not sure the difference between Tet and Jayden Higgins is enough, I'd go for the Jeanty/Higgins duo over Tet/Skattebo which is how the mocks seem to fall.

I don’t think you can count on any player on the offensive side of the ball including my guy Alvin
That’s why I say jeanty because you can build a efficient ground game quicker than a strong passing game

When have we been able to count on AK? He doesn't finish seasons healthy and he's not all of the sudden going to do it as a 30 y/o RB.

I'm not from NO, and never visited. But I have seen and heard NO pronounced "Nawlins"....never new that was an outsider pronunciation, and always thought it sounded stupid, so I'm happy NOT to pronounce it that way.

So I'm wondering what IS the correct way to pronounce NO? According to the locals! Spelled phonetically, with caps for syllabic emphasis, I have heard "new ORlins", "new orLEENS", and "new orleANS". Which is correct? If none of those, please provide the correct pronunciation. I'll say it that way, and dutifully correct anyone who says it wrong north of the Mason Dixon in south-central PA. May not have a huge impact, but ya gotta start somewhere right?
The most common way the New Orleanians say it is New Awlins. Now there's the bit more aristocratic pronunciation New Aw lee Uns that some of the older folks say . When someone says N'awlins we locals just laugh or smirk knowing that they are not from here and that they are trying to make someone think that they are. Plus that they don;t have any good friends from here that corrected them and saved them the embarrassment

The sense I'm getting from Steve Smith, Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, & Daniel Jeremiah directly or indirectly is they don't believe he can beat his guy & create separation. The thinking is you'll have to scheme him open or rely on the jump ball.
Of course they could be wrong and in the right circumstances it could still work. I'm thinking a Drew Brees/Marques Colston type combination (a lot would depend on having the right coach & QB).
If this is the belief I can't go with him at #9 but would be OK with him if a 5-10 spot trade down occurs.

Again...it's not about what you want ...it's about what it's gonna be and so far..the curse is saying, "Nah."

Carr messed up.
Wait, so you believe if he ate at a "NO establishment " he would be a good QB? I knew the food was good but I didn't know it could perform miracles

Watching T Macs film, a good comp would be prime Miles Austin. Both carry about 215lbs, T Mac 6"5 compared to 6"2. Its the fluidity of the movement thats similar. Good hand skills to get a little separation.

Probably.....but I'm sure Brees 1st day as a Saint in the city, he didn't eat at a non NO chain restaurant, same as Jeff Blake or Aaron Brooks.

I never was excited at the idea of getting him. Something always seemed off. I didn't watch much of him at all but I never got the excitement others did. But then again I didn't watch much Cam Ward either, which is also why I stay out of the discussions around drafting him.

Appreciate knowing that. I've heard 3-4 different pronunciations in my lifetime and honestly didn't know which was "correct", and the only locals I know are on this forum. I've been here for about 25+-/ years, and it never came up until this week, LOL! So now I know!

And just for the record, I think "New Orlins" and "New Orleens" and "New Awlins" all sound classy; while "Nawlins" sounds hillbilly to me. Where I live, I know what hillbilly sounds like.

FWIW, I'm not sure folks visiting are trying to make you think they're local. If I was visiting NO, I'd use the pronunciation that I was told was "correct"....trying to be respectful of local customs. If I'd been taught that Nawlins was correct, that's what I'd say. Not because I was trying to fool you, or impress you; but because I thought I was respecting the local custom. I'll be using "New Awlins" from here on out. Not trying to fool anyone, but out of respect for how the locals want it pronounced. I see it as being somewhat analagous to a situation where your name is Jacob, but I hear others call you Jake, and you tell me you hate that name and prefer "Jay". I'll do my best to call you "Jay" until it just flows naturally.

For a bit of contrast, I live close to Lancaster, PA. About half of the people in that area pronounce it "LAN-kister" and the other half "Lang-CASTer". And each side tries to correct the other. I'm happy to pronounce it however they like. I just think they should get it resolved internally and come to a consensus before they tell ME how to say it. Come to an agreement and tell me what the agreement was. I'll do THAT! LOL!
