IF "Little Animal" stays... (2 Viewers)

We already drafted a primadonna from USC with a top 10 draft pick. I am not sure if many of you watched the Rose Bowl, but many of the USC players were very classless with about 4 unsportsmanlike/personal foul penalties as a result.

I'll pass and take Phillips instead.

that's laughable. You're going to justify selecting a Miami player due to the conduct of USC. Have you ever seen the character flaws that come out of that school? Terrible try.

What are the chances your an LSU fan? Your bias against USC isn't obvious or anything....

I also suggest you look up the meaning of the word prima donna and tell us exactly how Bush falls under that definition.

I really don't see how Laurinaitis can imporve much on his stock. He's a lock for top 10......as the Saints would not pass on him! I guess that lure for a college championship is greater than the pocketbook balance for some players.

Good for him.....bad for the Saints.

Hell with Best Player Available......we need BPA on defense!!!!

I cannot recall taking a prima donna from USC with a top 10 pick. We did take Ennis Davis one year but he was like a sixth round pick and hardly a prima donna. Hmm, maybe you think you're on the Arizona Cardinals board. They did take Matt Leinart, who has acted like a prima donna since he got into the NFL.

So now that he's staying, it looks like we need to address MLB in Free Agency. Are there any decent options at that specific position?

You either trade for Vilma (assuming he's healthy) or you sign Briggs and slide him inside.

I agree it does not make much sense for him to return to OSU for his senior year. He can only lose in my opinion. A top 10 pick for a LB is really good and he is putting himself in a position that has lots of risk with little rewards.

I don't know enough about the position to know whether or not Briggs is fit for that position. Is he? What would make him not so?

What about pure MLBs in Free Agency? Are there none worth having?

As for Vilma, I agree he would be a major upgrade if healthy. There's a part of me that thinks he'll have a remarkable recovery once he hears he's been traded away.

Credit Tressel for getting many of his talented juniors to buy into the idea of making amends for a poor finish...again.

I think Briggs is more than capable of making the switch. I offered this opinion about a month or more ago and Mike Detellier has since also suggested that Briggs could move inside. He likened the situation to Will Witherspoon who also moved inside and has done a great job for the Rams. Briggs has the awareness to be a very solid MLB. And his speed and ability to move sideline-to-sideline does not hurt.

As far as pure MLBs, a lesser known prospect, Dontarrious Thomas, could get a look at MLB. Of course, if we were to sign Thomas, I would still sign Briggs and put him at WLB to add more speed to the LB corps.

Works for me! Do it! ;)

you are going to call Reggie a Pre-madonna?? wow, that is unbelievable to me...

Not me. Some people on here don't have a grasp on RB's talent level. I say he should be on the field at least 70% of the time. Just not in the same position.. Spread him all over the field and keep the opposing teams DC's guessing!

Briggs will be out of Loomis' price range. Bank on that.

Its been so long since we've gone after a great defensive guy (I guess McKenzie) that I find it very easy to agree with you. We DID get Fujita but he wasn't really a guy that almost every team coveted.

But everything SP said, the fact that its OBVIOUS we need a playmaker or two on D, and the way they went after Brees a couple of years ago makes me more optimistic. If they could have a defensive signing/drafting spree equal to what they did offensisvely that year, we'd be unstoppable.

Please give me Rivers, Ellis, or Phillips..... or Ryan if he falls
