If the players buy into Rizzi.. (10 Viewers)

I've been a big supporter of Rizzi going back to 2022.

That said, let's see this team next week. Remember the gas can game last year only to fall flat the next week? I want to see that energy over a few weeks. Not a one time deal.

We need to do an extensive interview process this time, I like Rizzi but there are better candidates out there and we need to do a real coaching search this time around.
I agree. We tried this method with Dennis Allen but unfortunately it didn't last long.

I love Dan Campbell. I would run through a brick wall for Dan Campbell... or at least try really really hard. I wish he were still in New Orleans.

But if you watch him, you can tell he's learning his job. He's still gaining the experience he needs to do the job he's doing. I think the arrow is still pointing up but in the big picture, he needs more experience. Detriot still suffers some growing pains and in the big moment they're falling short more than they should.

Rizzi has been around long enough to have that experience. I know we've only seen it one week but so far, but Rizzi looks like the guy Dan Campell wants to be.

Hate to say it, but being that guy when winning is easy. We won't really know until he's that guy when we're losing. But let's put that off for a good while and make Rizzi a head coach fixture in the NFL. If we're not smart enough to be the ones to hire him, someone certainly will, as long as we have a winning record here on out.

I know people will disagree with me, but the greatest Head Coach in NFL history to date got his start on Special Teams.

I can't think of a more far-fetched comparison to Rizzi than BB. LOL. BB had decades of pro coaching experience other than ST, even HC experience before NE. Don't get me wrong I love Rizzi's passion but he has NO pro or even major college experience on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball. DR would have to almost win out to really get consideration , and even then there are more qualified candidates. IF DR had any pro experience on either side of the ball we'd have an idea if he'd be more than just a motivator

I understand your reservations with Rizzi. I also have seen your posts stating that you think Dan Campbell is a figurehead with other people doing the smart work for the Lions.

So I ask, who do you think should be the next head coach? Or what are you looking for in the next head coach? I'm not being a smart a**, I genuinely want to know your thoughts.

I love what I see from Rizzi early on, I really do. But the only way he keeps this job is I would think if he runs the table. Otherwise we need to hire from outside the organization

I think there are three interview games for Rizzi.
Vs LA Rams, Vs Washington, and @ GB.
If he goes 2-1 or 3-0, he’s HC.

and truly give effort and win games (not saying 7-0, or even 5-2 maybe 4-3) does Coach Rizz get a true evaluation? Just win the games we are supposed to and not look like we belong in a sub league. A part of me wants to move on and start from scratch, but I also love his tenacity and excitement on the sideline. I wont be upset either way, unless we go back to the BS style of Allen. I think the players love seeing their coach get hype just as much as the fans do. My worry is DA tarnished any real chance Rizz might have had as our HC.
Well that didn't take long. I posted after the hire that we need to be careful of anointing an interim coach if they go say 3-5 or even 6-2. See Antonio Pierce for the Raiders. He went permanent after a nice run towards the end of last year. How's that working out? People get excited because of the passion and desire. Don't be blinded.

My question is why hasn't Rizzi been given a shot before now? 32 years in coaching and he hasn't sniffed a HC job. My guess is there is a reason.

I'm super happy we won yesterday and more important the fire that Rizzi brought to this team.

I'd still look for a young, aggressive OC that could be on the rise.

There will be more attractive landing spots for new coaches next year than the situation with the Saints.

I think Rizz has a decent shot at being the guy if he can finish 5-3 with our issues.
