If the players buy into Rizzi.. (1 Viewer)

And if that person is the best candidate for the job, what’s the problem? Explain it like I’m five.
I never said there was a problem. We are on a list of i believe 13 nfl franchises to have never hired a black head coach. I think there may be a conscious effort to change that this go around.

If this team continues to win with good luck like yesterday, DO NOT CHANGE.

I know people will disagree with me, but the greatest Head Coach in NFL history to date got his start on Special Teams.

No boomers please. Bill's day is passed.

Rizzi reminds me a lot of Dan Campbell. And TBH I am very curious to see how the rest of the coaches go with new leadership. On paper, we have quite a good coaching staff and having a different voice at the top might be all it takes to right this ship.

Throw in a good draft adding depth on OL, WR and a starter on DL and this team might be looking pretty decent next year.

If Rizzi gets 5 wins total during his tenure, the team plays with high energy, and eliminates boneheaded mistakes...he'll get a serious interview.

Things to watch that will have an impact: The Cowboys are absolutely collapsing. McCarthy will be fired. It will be an attractive HC position for a coach we may want.

The Bear are also collapsing and fans are calling for Eberflus's head. They have a lot of talent and will also be in the market.

I say that to say this: Rizzi has a better shot if the hot candidates (Ben Johnson/Aaron Glenn) choose those, possibly, more attractive situations
For everyone that wants to start from scratch, understanding that bringing in Aaron Glenn would be keeping Allen’s defense around lol, since he kept that playbook. That’s a tree off the Allen branch

Might as well just Keep Rizz and the offensive/defensive staff considering Ben Johnson runs a wide zone scheme as well

Some people want change just for change sake 🤣

I like Rizzi. I like Kubiak. I like Woods. Unless some really exceptional Coach became available, I would roll with it. He didn't make any decisions yesterday that would have cost the Saints the game. Loved his energy and passion.

Not saying I want Belichick, simply saying that to judge a guy because his origins are ST could be catastrophic.

You lost me at the Cowboys being an attractive position for a coach.........:jpshakehead:

and truly give effort and win games (not saying 7-0, or even 5-2 maybe 4-3) does Coach Rizz get a true evaluation? Just win the games we are supposed to and not look like we belong in a sub league. A part of me wants to move on and start from scratch, but I also love his tenacity and excitement on the sideline. I wont be upset either way, unless we go back to the BS style of Allen. I think the players love seeing their coach get hype just as much as the fans do. My worry is DA tarnished any real chance Rizz might have had as our HC.
Rizzi is Dan Campbell 2.0

honestly, i don't trust Rizz on his punting finds and picks much less rebuilding our future. He's the perfect short term guy. but don't be fooled into longterm solutions.
A good leader puts the right people in position to win. Rizz doesn't have to be Andy Reid or Bill belichick if he can put the team together, coaches included, and they believe in him, he can definitely be long-term! IMO

Here's the way I see it...

It's absolutely impossible to know what kind of head coach Rizzi is or can be with what is left of our starting lineup. I know that everyone is worried about the possibility of missing out on one of the (very) few quality coaching prospects who may (or may not) be available at the conclusion of this season. To me, that is a lot to hope for when we all know that a guy with such a resume' would likely be weighing a whole lot more than just who can pay him the most money to coach for them.

In the meantime, IF (and it's a big IF) Rizzi has been able to turn chicken [droppings] into chicken salad by the end of this season, it will be hard for folks not to wonder if we could be letting a great coach move away from this franchise. We ALL know that we are at least 2 years away from getting some relief from our salary cap woes. That painful reality could be one of the deal breakers to a top head coach prospect if we don't have the financial ammo to stalk a prize free agent.

The bird in the hand regarding Rizzi is that we already know the culture he has made/created with his current players. Losing that at this stage of the rebuild could prove detrimental toward putting the wheels back on the bandwagon in the future. IF Rizzi can be the new Sean Payton, we can only know the answer for sure with a season of healthy players at his disposal. If he simply holds the ship together until the salary cap grip loosens up a bit, that in itself has some merit in buying some time until things look a little more attractive to a potential suitor for the eventual head coaching change down the road.

Will there never be another top head coaching prospect on the horizon? Of course not. Great football minds are showing their wares as great assistant coaches all over the league each year. One of those guys may see New Orleans as the best location to finally get his shot at one of the top 32 coaching jobs in pro football. But that may not be the current view in the condition this team is in at present.

It's waaaaaaaaay too soon to say that Rizzi needs to be given the 2025 season already. But with a good showing down the stretch he could be just what the doctor ordered to give the Saints organization the precious time it needs to get it's act together and prepare the way for a hungry new head coach. Or perhaps Rizzi will have the time to prove that he is the best choice all along. Exciting times ahead folks!

Let's see what he can do with the remaining schedule. It isn't a difficult one. There isn't a single team left on it that is "scary good."
Three really bad teams in the Browns, GiAnts, and Raiduhs; and four mediocre teams in the Rams, Packers, Commanders, and Bucs.

I don't look at any of those games as "can't win," but I would consider beating the Packers and Bucs as significant wins that show signs that Rizz knows what he's doing and team is responding to him. If they win one of those two games (and all but one of the others), he should be approached as a serious candidate, but certainly doesn't make him the odds on favourite.

Personally, I'd love to see us get Aaron Glenn, but I don't know if he even wants to leave Detroit for a head gig yet.

We're sitting here acting like Rizz will be competing for us. If this keeps up, we may be competing for him. The Giants, Cowboys, Bears, Jets, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay could all be looking for coaches. Maybe even Cincy. If Rizzi wins 4-5 games with this roster he will be coaching one of those teams next year.
GMs tend to be trendy, and they see what’s happening in Detroit. The high energy, tough love players coach is what players, fans, and media like. Maybe you don’t have to be a top OC or DC to be a head coach. DA, one of the best defensive minds in the game, can attest to that.
