If we release Carr what would you think of bringing back Jameis? [Mod edit] (20 Viewers)

In 2020, this was a good move. See what yiu can get he was only 26. If it worked you had your qb for next 10 seasons.

Right now Winston is starting to get up there in age. At best he is a stop gap qb, Saints already have that in Carr.

N.O has to find a young qb somehow.

Haener looked real good (relatively) in one game after they pulled Rattler but he looked terrible in the game he started. I agree with you that I don't see it clicking with him, stranger things have happened but again I just don't see it. Rattler has more upside on paper for sure and if we release Carr, I personally hope we just roll with him and see what that looks like. Unfair maybe that he's only a second year player but it is what it is, these guys all know that you have to seize the opportunities when they come rather than when you want them to come.

I don't particularly mind the idea of bringing Winston back but does he want to back up a second year guy? Because I think it's pretty clear at this point that Winston himself is not a consistent enough QB to be that guy for any team serious about winning football games.
I agree. Only thing about Jaboo is his presence can ignite a team for a few games. He just doesn't sustain it. Like his pick 6 fiasco last year after playing well for 2-3 games. He balled out in that snowy game.

We could do worse than Jaboo as a backup, but I dont know that Kellen wants a "funny" guy like Jameis in his room. I haven't seen enough from our new coach to say for sure, but he just doesn't seem very comedic. I wonder if they would clash.

I truly love the idea of everybody taking a breather this year. Make the touch cuts, trades and draft choices, that you need for this team to rebuild itself to a winner. Let Rattler get a full off-season with #1 Reps and use the fact that your starting QB isn't making that much to absorb the hit of letting Carr walk. Rattler made alot of impressive throws on an inadequate team with little time on task. I would definitely give him a shot this year as we need to see this as the start of a new era and temper expectations.

Why? Jameis got benched for the Browns. The Browns! A team with the worst starting QB in the NFL goes out injured and Jameis got benched as his fill in.

The actual heck ppl are thinking?

We drafted Archie No. 2 overall in 1971, and I truly believe he was a championship caliber QB except for the fact he had NOTHING to work with. The same would happen to whatever QB we to draft next unless we try to develop a healthier, more talented team around him. But in 1971, all we had was Edd Hargett, who wasn’t even close to Rattler potential-wise. So we had draft an Archie because that was a deep QB class. Rattler was what, the fifth QB taken last year? If Shedeur or Ward were in the draft last year, they are about even with Rattler potential-wise and would have gone fifth to seventh QBs taken. I just think we need to see what we have with him and CKM and not out any QB in an Archie-like situation. Or even use our first three picks for the trenches or other needs (I’m not against Jeanty or Warren) and then draft Dart, Howard or Gabriel with our other third-round pick or in the fourth. I just don’t understand a kneejerk reaction to overreaching at QB with truly knowing what we have in Rattler.
My thought process as well about Rattler. There were SIX QBs taken in the first 12 picks! Then the long gap to Rattler in the 5th. He was projected to be a 2nd to 3rd round, I believe. I wonder where he’d be projected to go if he came out this year.

We still don’t know what we have with either Rattler or Haener. I would feel more comfortable if they weren’t both around six feet tall, but they both still show a lot of promise. We’ll see what Kellen thinks of them real soon.

As for Jameis, not a good idea for multiple reasons. I wish him the best, but he just doesn’t seem to fit the direction we’re going in. If we’re looking for a bridge QB, then keep Carr for another season.

I LOVE Jameis and want him back. History has shown he will not be a Franchise QB but he loves New Orleans and we love him..... Comeon back Jameis
