If we release Carr what would you think of bringing back Jameis? [Mod edit] (20 Viewers)

The team won't be better in 2026. So, it's going to be the same situation. Hopefully, with a better pick.

But you can't find a franchise QB if you never draft one in 50 years. You can't rely on FA QB turning into a HOF player. Only one of those ever came around and it doesn't look like another is coming anytime soon.
Again, at this point, before free agency and before the 2025 draft, how do you know the Saints won’t be better in 2026? Carr’s contract situation will be by then anyway, making him a less costly dump. But I don’t even care if we do that over the next week or two. I don’t want to continue t dragging this disagreement on and on. All I’m saying is we don’t know what we have in Rattler. He didn’t get a fair shot with all the multiple adversity he had to face last year. I would rather see what Moore can do with him next year and build a better team for whoever will be QB in 2026. Because if we overreach this season for a QB that ends up being a bust, we could have a 30-year-old Tom Brady in 2026 and he would still crash and burn because we didn’t built up the entire team around him first. You obviously disagree, and that’s fine. Only time will tell. But in my minds, Rattler showed me enough last year to earn another chance with a healthier and stronger team.

We drafted Archie No. 2 overall in 1971, and I truly believe he was a championship caliber QB except for the fact he had NOTHING to work with. The same would happen to whatever QB we to draft next unless we try to develop a healthier, more talented team around him. But in 1971, all we had was Edd Hargett, who wasn’t even close to Rattler potential-wise. So we had draft an Archie because that was a deep QB class. Rattler was what, the fifth QB taken last year? If Shedeur or Ward were in the draft last year, they are about even with Rattler potential-wise and would have gone fifth to seventh QBs taken. I just think we need to see what we have with him and CKM and not out any QB in an Archie-like situation. Or even use our first three picks for the trenches or other needs (I’m not against Jeanty or Warren) and then draft Dart, Howard or Gabriel with our other third-round pick or in the fourth. I just don’t understand a kneejerk reaction to overreaching at QB with truly knowing what we have in Rattler.

Apart from your condescending remarks that "he would be a great encyclopedia or vacuum cleaner salesman," there's absolutely nothing wrong with the qualities you listed.

Every player is paid to be where they are. There is nothing wrong with or negative about his enthusiasm and "lobbying for a job." For crying out loud, that is what all backups do!

I'm not advocating for his return to the Saints. As another member posted, "That ship has sailed."

I just strongly disagree with your description of Jameis as an insincere player and individual. He was nothing less than exemplary as a teammate and player for the Saints and your comments speaking so dismissively of his character are uncalled for IMHO.

Perhaps you should read your signature line again:

"Do the right thing because it's the right thing to do...even when no one is watching"
I wasn't questioning his character. I was giving him a compliment
He would make a great salesman for even crappy products like that.

Give the fans something to be excited about since they raised the ticket prices. We'll win some shootouts and will lose some with Jameis at QB. It would be the 7-9 years. Lol

Jamies has absolutely nothing to offer. He's a terrible QB. When he gets pressured his first instinct is to throw it up and pray.

As far as being a mentor, that's even worse! Neither Haener nor Rattler need that kind of input.

I like the guy, just don't want him taking up a roster spot or whispering in our young QB's ears.

Rizzi gave us some entertainment. Now I wanted to be entertained by more Ws.
Call me crazy.
I felt most entertained in weeks 1 and 2 and Carr was the QB. I just want to be competitive and make the playoffs again. Carr might not be the guy, but I know for sure Jameis isn’t either.

Oh, yes, that was a glorious two weeks. I was HECKA entertained. And then the middle of the season took all that away apparently because I forgot all about it till you reminded me.

Actually, can I just forget about the whole season now? I get stabby when I think about it at all.

It was brutal but needed to happen. Hopefully it cleared the deck so that we can enter a new era and get out of the state of mediocrity we’ve been in.
