Well, let's not forget Payton's teams weren't immune to slow starts. It's a long season. It’s not just one game.
We’ve found multiple ways to shoot ourselves in the foot due to the “little things” that get you beat.
Penalties. Turnovers. Missed blocking assignments.
I’m sure Allen is a nice guy. But the intense focus on details that Payton had is gone. And we’re seeing the byproduct of it on the field.
Drafting a QB sounds nice in theory but it often leads to the coach's demise. DA was there when they drafted Carr and I'm even talking about how much of a crap shoot drafting a QB is. There is no easy solution when you have a questionable coach.Let's not forget the unreasonable expectations of a "super bowl run" and all the win now BS, from Loomis.
We needed our heads examined (myself included) to think .......we could double down on a big expensive playoff push!
No Drew, No Coach Payton: New Head coach, new DC, New SS, FS new OC, new OL coach New WR coach, whole new WR core. To much turn over and ???? marks. What were we thinking?
Say what you want about DA, but that was some lofty expectations to put on a 1st year coach replacing a legend. We are going to rebuild next year, and if Allan wants to give himself a 3rd year on the job. He will draft a QB in next years draft.
We are close to playing good ball. We are avg. 23.5 points a game, and we are giving up 26.5 points a game. The largest margin we have been beaten by is 8 points. This is very fixable, but we need our key players to stay healthy.
It took the old coach a few years and a SB win to command that kind of respect.I mean it took the old coach to call out the RBs. DA just doesn’t have a commanding personality, so the mistakes the Saints make keep happening because the Players don’t fear anything coming from DA. They knew SP would make them pay for fumbling and bad tackling. This coach walked off the field like he was confused.
The last time we were 2-4 was 2016. Before the draft class that changed the team.Well, let's not forget Payton's teams weren't immune to slow starts. It's a long season.
My gripe with Allen is his history with Oakland and I fear he doesn't know where to turn to for input outside of the guys in the building. Is he willing to bring in new offensive guys next year? I just think all he knows is the status quo and I don't see one more year changing that. How many coaches turn it around after a bad first year, especially without stability at the QB position? McVay took over a struggling Rams team and hit the ground running, Daboll has the giants playing their best football since the early day of Coughlin, and McDaniel has fins firing on all cylinders before Tua went down. It seems like the good coaches get it right in the beginning.I was in the camp of getting an offensive minded coach. The defensive coach's were not winning super bowls. Good QBs and over achieving slot receivers were. Rams, TB come to mind. We missed the boat on that, when we let Pederson go to the Jags, while Loomis did his exhaustive search, to settle on Allan. DA wasn't my first, 2nd, or 3rd choice. But, can't say the man doesn't deserve a 2nd yr. Firing a coach in his first year, isn't what well run franchises do. So, we are stuck for now.
Loomis is clearly not a complete GM, he was only buoyed by Sean and Ireland. I have seen Payton and Loomis Drafts. They sucked!!! My biggest fear is w/ Sean gone, Ireland will be out the door soon. And so goes the other half of our draft room talent.
I don't know how this season will turn out, but rebuilding this team next year may not be a bad idea for the future. And get out of the shadow of Sean/Drew and our cap. Kind of like what Pittsburgh is doing w/ Big Ben, and what is likely going to do w/ Tomlin. You keep the winning philosophy, but you have to change with the game.
For Allan to make a believer out of me, he would have to make this defense elite top 10. As ugly as it looks, we are a top 6th offense right now. We score enough points to win w/ an elite defense. The margin we have to flip is small less than a touchdown. But, we have to learn how to win close games again.
Agreed. And it’s going to get worse.I don’t think that firing Allen will matter honestly. We have a mediocre team. We have a bunch of guys who are on the decline right now…especially on our front seven of our defense. And we don’t have a QB. We have a bunch of replacement level guys. Guys like Winston…who nobody was interested in signing as a starter except us…and Dalton…who is a backup QB. It is exceptionally difficult to have sustained success in the NFL with our current level of talent at QB. Literally everything else has to fall into place. This team isn’t good enough to overcome a mediocre QB situation.
I’m honestly tired of hearing about “self-inflicted wounds” and “refs” as reasons for loses. Those are excuses that losers make. We are lucky to have 2 wins right now…it could easily be worse.
That's such worn out and lazy thing to say. The Raiders were a total dumpster fire at the time. So Allen didn't go in as a first time head coach and totally rebuild it into a power house in two seasons. That obviously means that there's absolutely no possibility of him ever being a decent coach. Nobody has ever succeeded at a second chance. Ever!
It's just a tired old trope.
So do you think Sean Mcvay should be fired. He really hasn't had very many injured ,same roster he won SB with last year, same QB, same dominant WR, Same defensive players and yet same record as we have. Should he be fired? If not, why not?Just checking in a month later at 3-7. You still holding out hope, or no?
Tired old trope, seems like it is just a regular trope now.

He lost an offensive assistant to Vikings now their OC. other than that, everything is the same. Now compare to us, we have had more injured players than healthy players at times,
McVay won a Superbowl last year, all DA does is lose. Are you serious? So do you think Sean Mcvay should be fired.
