Do you believe that should be the team's route, or is it because that's the popular opinion that's been floated around since DA was fired?

Based on results, Payton’s coaching tree doesn’t appear to win without Payton and a star QB when they’re running Payton’s system for the most part. They’re great coordinators when on another HC’s staff and coming to a made situation but not great HCs or leading coaches when they themselves have to pick a staff and QB. Or when they’re relied on to develop a talented QB without Payton.

I think more of the coaching tree can be successful like Campbell if they branch out to younger coordinators with successful backgrounds and fresh ideas. Instead of just carrying over the same exact position coaches from Payton’s staffs.

I would like someone who is going to wipe the slate clean and isn’t going to feel loyalty to people that are already here. Also that doesn’t have a long personal relationship with Loomis so they’re easier to fire if they do a bad job.

I’m not excited about the specific candidates either. I want an offensive head coach so Brady is the only Payton tree candidate for me. He wasn’t great in Carolina. Then he replaces Daboll in Buffalo. Daboll might get fired this offseason so that would work out perfect for the Bills. Is Brady really good or is Josh Allen just a HC maker?

The world has changed. Payton is riding his defense. They are ranked 8th, we are 30th

Dennis Allen had established himself well before Payton, I'm not sure I would call him part of the Payton coaching tree

He absolutely is. Before New Orleans he was quality control for the falcons for 2 years then defensive assistant for 1 year.

He came here with Payton in 06 and was a position coach for 5 years which led to him being DC for the Broncos for a year then HC for the Raiders. Then he comes back here to be DC for 7 years under Payton before HC. He's as Payton tree as they come. He's more Payton tree than Campbell who was a position coach in Miami for 6 years, then interim head coach there before coming here.

I do not necessarily want to steer clear of it, it's just I do not want anyone as HC who has coached here since SP left. It seems that once he was gone this place became full of toxicity. Just because we have beaten bad and even really bad teams since DA was fired, it does not change anything. I am not saying we did not have some toxic moments happen during the SP era, and I am not saying he isn't a major reason why we are where we are now. I am just saying he could handle a lot of the things that were going on.

This organization is way too loyal to its employees aka buddies. We need someone to wipe the slate clean which I am not sure can happen with ML here.

We need fresh thoughts, ideas, coaching styles, etc. It just feels like this organization needs a new direction, a direction that does not seem possible with anyone in the building leading the way. Of course, maybe it isn't necessarily the coach or his views that will harm us going forward but the views and arrogance of ML.
