We remember how Ricky Williams was an absolute arse when Deuce came aboard; didn't mentor him at all. :jpshakehead:

But when the Saints drafted Bush (in '06), and with FAR MORE HYPE than Ingram has received, Deuce showed how he was a "class act" by welcoming and mentoring Reggie. And despite being injured, Deuce carried a heavy load, and '06 was one of his best seasons.

Fast-forward to today. Reggie has an opportunity to rise above the childish attitudes that some athletes have today. <s>My</s> Our hope is that Reggie helps Ingram with a smooth transition. If he does, our running game will be off the chain (without the distraction and drama)!

There's a difference between now and when Deuce came aboard. Ricky had some serious issues. Ricky was looked at as our "savior", so to speak. We still had that "losing feeling". Today, Mark gets drafted by a team just one year removed from winning a SB. No pressure at all. A locker room full of leaders and mentors, unlike the days when Ricky was still trying to find himself and Deuce comes aboard looking to take his job. Half the team back then were looking for a leader themselves, that's including a coach to lead them.

...with FAR MORE HYPE than Ingram has received,

wait, what now?

this hype (below) ...and more. I'm sure you remember. :

The point is: Bush is dealing with far less hype than Deuce had to deal with (surrounding the new RB). So there's no reason why Reggie can't step it up and be the mature veteran that brings the "new kid" under his wing ---without fear of being threatened by his arrival.

There isn't a player in NFL history who has coming into the league with more hype than Reggie Bush. The OP is right.

I don't know, I think Reggie will focus on his own game. Think about it. First Reggie had to deal with Thomas, and then Ivory came along. Taking touches away from him as well. Now Ingram. To me, it's all good. More killer HB's the better :ezbill:

Michael Irvin hit the nail right on the head in the video when he said (paraphrasing) that Reggie was a man who loves people and that he was just what New Orleans needed to help rebuild and "show love to [New Orleans]".

In light of what was revealed in Sean Payton's book, you can now CLEARLY see that Reggie's agents weren't too happy about being picked by N.O. at that time.

Yeah and they were comparing Reggie to Barry Sanders.

Reggie may be out the door

That's only if the Saints decide to keep Bush on their roster, of which I have doughts he'll be a player after the lockout.:idunno::scratch:

We want the old Reggie Bush back

Wow...what a difference from than to now. I think his injuries made him gunshy:aargh:

Anyone think PT will be way more of a Mentor than Reggie? Reggie is still making childish statements and being a bit of a head case after 5 years. Not that he can't help Ingram get the playbook, but I see PT being more of a mentor. As a Bama fan I can tell you Ingram is a humble dude and reminds me a lot of PT. Plus their styles are "closer" to each other than Reggie is to Ingram. Again, Reggie is only a few weeks removed from making ill advised, whiny statements. He is no where near mature as Deuce was, nor may he ever be. PT just seems to have a better chance of being a true mentor, IMHO.

Yup, PT if anyone will take the kid "under his wing". I hope Ivory makes a full recovery. It will be something else watching Ivory and Ingram pound the ball down our opponent's throats, along with Thomas and hopefully Bush.
