Is Old Music Killing New Music? (5 Viewers)

you're not going to get ragged for hating the halftime show - they typically suck
but a few things - When has Snoop ever sung? i don't think i've ever heard that
do you imagine the nfl and advertisers are going to let the show air live without a slight delay to beep whatever they feel they need to? really?
can you cite the 'hatred for law enforcement' lyrics for discussion since you brought it up?
New York Post and somewhere else on the internet I honestly can't remember where . Thanks for not getting ragged .

I'll probably get ragged for this , but the Superbowl halftime show is something I'm not going to watch or even look forward too . There's plenty of great artists out there that are a lot better than who they picked . Most people watch the superbowl but the halftime show can be embarrassing in from of kids . Ever listen to the lyrics of snoop dog , first he can't sing and what comes out of his mouth is well ( hatred for law enforcement , cursing , just plain disgusting ) . Again , he can't sing ! The last good halftime show was Prince , now he was a great artist .

One thing to remember is that they often highlight artists from the city that hosts the game - so this year’s lineup is very L.A. (the stadium is in Inglewood, which is always up to no good). It’s not just the best artists they can get.

I’m sure it will be a spectacle, I’m gonna watch. But I get it If some people think it’s not their thing, it’s understandable.

Old music is art that has stood the test of time. Will the new music pass the same test? Only time will tell.

The 60s had a lot of great, classic iconic songs, had a lot of great underrated, lesser known and unknown songs but it also had a lot of crap

The 70s had a lot of great, classic iconic songs, had a lot of great underrated, lesser known and unknown songs but it also had a lot of crap

The same is true for the 80s and 90s

And the same will be true of the 2000s and 2010s

When todays teenagers grow up and start making TV shows and movies we’ll see how many of todays music shows up

Hmmmm. Queen or What ever crap is on current pop stations.... Older music is just superior in every way.

It's weird that you would consider "whatever . . . is on current pop stations" to be the marker of the quality of new music.

You people: the kids and their tik tok, music peaked with The Scorpions
Your dad: you call that music? That can’t hold a candle to Jefferson Airplane
His dad: what’s that hippie ****? Perry Como was a true artist

It’s all quite silly

In fairness, no one ever said music peaked with The Scorpions.

Perry Como’s music is so old fashioned I felt like I needed to wear a cardigan sweater and smoke a pipe just to listen to it

Agreed, most music coming out in a calender year is crap. Great art stands the test of time. If I say 1969,do you remember
Woodstock or the #1 song of the year Sugar Sugar by the Archies?

Wilson Pickett

Wilson Pickett

Land of 1,000 Dances is one my all-time favs. Straight 🔥.

And my favorite video performance of it is from the 1971 Soul to Soul show they did on Independence Day in Ghana. Pickett is (as always) electric, but the scenes from the audience are so interesting - some of them are just awe-struck.
