Is Rattler your guy next year? (1 Viewer)

Doesn't work like you think it does.
Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, these are the limited options we have right now is building through the draft and hoping we can find or develop or QB of the future over the next couple years.

I agree with most of this except, I wouldn’t want to see him continue to develop as he has been. Looks like he throwing more inaccurate passes each game.
Disagree he played well in the Raiders game up until the 4th quarter when we were down multiple scores. Then he started forcing things and becoming more erratic with his passes and made a couple bad decisions with the ball. He can’t make practice squad caliber receivers hold onto catchable passes or prevent undisciplined players from committing dumb penalties.

I'm honestly surprised there's any consensus on Rattler at this point. Given the situation he was/is in and that he's a ROOKIE, I don't think nearly enough has happened to just write him off after a few starts with a totally defunct team. I think any of our young players that aren't panning out need to be given another chance once this new regime settles in. Its almost impossible to tell if any of our young guys should be discarded when they've clearly been poorly guided the last couple of years.

what I've come to realize, and i can't believe it took me so long, is that Rattler sees himself as a round 5 rookie and not a robbed 1st round pick jilted by high school shenanigans. NOLA fans, me included, thrust him to the forefront, to force him to be our guy. And ironically, it may end up happening. Because he sure did get a ton of development for a 5th round Qb. But regardless, If you haven't figured it out yet, we as Saints fans are still trying to cope. Thats how good it was.

Unfortunately I don’t believe that our franchise currently has any clue or plan as to how to find our “long term” answer at QB 😂

Carr has and always has been a middle of the road, definition of mediocrity of a QB. He looks the part and has some arm talent but I just don’t think he will ever have Drew Brees like ability to watch film, breakdown opposing defenses and retain that information and apply that to a game plan installation.

I know that I’ve had to readjust my expectations of that position since Drew retired. Not just Drew but as much as I hate to admit it guys like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning were just on a whole different mental level at processing the game at the QB position which is why they are HOFs. They were perfectionists, their drive, work ethic, leadership, skill set, and rare ability to break the huddle 90% of the time and already know how the opposing defenses were aligned was just amazing.

I think that there’s some talented QBs playing right now: Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, Jackson, Allen. But I don’t think that they process the game the same way that Brees, Brady or Manning did at least not yet. I think all of them have more athletic ability though.

All I know is I wouldn’t want to be an NFL scout trying to find the next Brees, Brady, Mahomes, Burrow, or any of those guys.
i think you're onto something. And ill tell you what it is. Its courage. Rattler is the hero right now, because he may lose, but its not due to lacking courage. Carr flashes courage, gets hot, then flashes not having courage, (KC game) then he gets injured. i think this is why a % of Sains fans turned on DC4. For ex, Drew plus Sean were a courage dynamo. They weren't afraid to "shock the world" week in an week out year after year. And all those Qbs you mentioned, all have extraordinary courage. And that is a rare trait.

Man, that's deep. :)

He’s lucky the defensive backs he hits with ball can’t catch either.

Carr will be back for at least one more season with Rattler backing him up.

Get used to it cause it will get worse before it gets better.

Yeah I suppose I'm more concerned about the 9 passes that hit our receivers in the hands that ended up as incompletions against the Raiders than a couple errant throws.
