Has this been confirmed???

Oh good grief, folks will make up the damndest conspiracies, all this cloak and dagger stuff. Made up from thin air.

That spot on the back of a military helmet is where the initials of the person who bought the helmet, or the helmet was issued, are normally placed. I had to buy my old flight helmet. I bought it so I could occasionally hang out on a flight line and fly on a space available basis.

If there was an aircraft going where I wanted to go that had an empty seat I could claim it if I had a helmet and high altitude card, I did and I flew quite a lot in the fast two seaters. We were encouraged to do it during time off even though I was not rated as a pilot.

Y. B. could be the initials for say someone named Yaacov Bar-Lev who is with say the IDF. That's a darned good IDF name.

I still have my aircraft helmet, the one I bought at a PX in the 70's, so it's mine, It has my initials on the back like that. I haven't worn it except when climbing and working under trees to trim or cut them down for the last 40 years. It's a darn good snazzy helmet for that kind of work.

They put initials on the backs of helmets because helmet are often stored on hooks on a wall, or are placed in a shelving rack where the initials can be seen so that the correct person can find their helmet amoung all of the other folks helmets.

I never had my initials on my helmet. My helmet was either on my head or near my bunk with other gear.

Just for the dummy posting that tweet, there's no such thing as Delta Force Recon SEALS. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

And yeah, the initials on the back of the helmet are most likely initials of the dude wearing the helmet.

I just figured they forgot the commas.

Also, Yankee Brigade was the 26th Infantry Division. It no longer formally exists, although they did reorganize in 1993 under the 29th Infantry Division.

Sounds to me like the tweet is nonsense.

Who are you talking with?

It took all of one half second for me to see through it. I didn't need to look at replies to figure it out.
