Jacksonville defense struggling mightily this season (1 Viewer)

Playing on grass....sure hope it's sunny and the field is in good shape.
Priority #1....choose the right cleats
Priority #2... stop the run
Priority #3...make minshew uncomfortable
I'm hoping this isn't a trap game.
I heard they're handing out minshew mania packages (fake mustache and headband )

I'm not underestimating minshew. ..I wanted
us to use a late round pick on him.

Well the people who bet on games seem to like the Jacksonville (-1) so according to them Jacksonville should watch out for a trap game.

In the 6 games we've ever played against the Jaguars, the Saints have only beaten them once in Jacksonville. I don't like those odds. :covri:

I'm feeling like the Saints D-Line will be filing for a homestead exemption in the Jags backfield.

If we can execute the screen game and get the run game going, we should have no problem offensively.
They seem to be sloppy at tackling. Now after just being destroyed by McCaffey I can't see them allowing the same thing to happen 2 weeks in a row.

Hopefully Sean doesn't over analyze and come out pass happy. We need to start establishing the run game as a team, we'll need it in the 2nd half of the season and into the playoffs.

Their defense is fast, but undisciplined and overagressive. Look for a ton of misdirection plays from Payton in this game. I wouldn't be surprised if Ginn/Harris have a handful of reverse actions early on to keep them honest.

This should be our easiest game so far. Hope the team doesn't have a let-down, after all the high emotions of the last 4 games.

The Jags are better than the Bucs. They have a much better defense and QB play. The only real advantage that Tampa has is their two WRs. Minshew is a good QB. Calais Campbell is still a top 5 defensive player in the league. Even if Ramsey doesn’t play, their defense is littered with 1st round picks and pro bowlers. Schematically they have struggled at times, but it’s not impossible for the Jags to clean that up. The Saints could lose this game...it would be a classic letdown game if the Saints buy into the Jags not being any good.

I've heard of NFL teams appearing to play down to the level of their competition. Lord knows we've seen our Saints do it many times.
But I find it hard to believe that any NFL team could or would take any opponent lightly. Almost every team in the league is a within a
game or two better or worse than 8-8. There are always a few juggernauts and a few tank-teams, but everyone else is pretty even.

As far as the Saints getting full of themselves and having a let-down game... I just can't see that happening. As long as Drew is "Out",
our coaches and players have to feel like their backs are against the wall. One wrong step and we're down a couple of scores and pretty
much out of it. For all the "good" we've done the past few weeks, I still feel like we either need to get a lead and protect it or keep it close
and steal it at the end. I don't see our offense being able to put up enough quick strike points to overcome a two score deficit late in a
game unless we get points from our defense or special teams. And a team with a big lead usually plays conservative to prevent those
sort of things.

I think our team knows this, and that's what's going to keep them sharp week to week, regardless of who we play. I think the parity in
the league keeps teams from looking past opponents. Without Drew, that goes double for us.

what happened to jacksonville? weren't they one game away from the superbowl a couple years ago? what a rapid decline from just a short time ago

The only way we lose this game is if we turn the ball over too much... outside of that... we should have a game plan identical to what we did in Seattle... If we execute it... should be a 24-14 type of game.

We should be able to run on them and then use play action.

On defense, I think we can keep Fournette bottled up. Chark scares the bejeebers out of me. He's like 6-3 and runs a sub 4.4. He could break out any game.

The Jags D is horrible in run defense. They are 32 in ypc at about 5.5 ypc. The Bucs run D is the best in ypc at 3.1 ypc. That's a big deal IMO.
Look what CMC just did to them. Kamara is going to have a field day.
