We have an ascending second chance guy who has demonstrated in limited action the ability to be a productive DE (Granderson)

We have a former first round pick approaching the end of his rookie deal who’s battled some injuries. He has talent and something to prove. (Turner)

We have a second round pick who many expected to be a first, who was highly productive at the highest collegiate level, looking to prove he’s a legitimate NFL starter.(Foskey)

Between these three guys, I expect somebody to play well. We don’t need a money grab has been/never was free agent signing.

We require a rotation not just one guy. With that in mind, how’s our depth looking at RDE. Cam is the LDE.

I liked Clowney when he was paired with JJ Watt but that has been a while and he has sucked since.

Yes statistically his best years were when he had elite help. With Cam he’ll have that help, in theory.

Players need to play and get snaps in order to gain experience. If we signed an unproductive/average veteran every time we have a rookie-2nd year players at a position, those players will never get the experience needed to develop. Foskey and Turner were drafted early to become productive DEs. Turner has been unavailable, not subpar.

Even if Turner’s only available for half of the season, I have full confidence in Granderson producing on starter snaps based on what he’s proven while playing behind Davenport, Hendrickson and Turner for four years. He played the best out of him, Davenport and Turner last year. This is finally his chance to start so roll with him. He’s listed as the starting RDE since Davenport left. The team isn’t signing anyone to get snaps ahead of him.

I agree. I would like to see what Turner can do from the left side. That way he could give Cam a break plus rotate with with Granderson and Foskey. Plus we also have Kpassagnon that can also rotate with Cam. I believe we have enough depth at DE. We need to give the reps to those players that have the least amount of experience, so that we can see what we have in these guys. Then if we need to sign another veteran DE, go ahead and do it.

According to this article, there's some bad blood between Saints D/C Joe Woods and Clowney. It doesn't look like it's going to happen.
Unless, they can bury the hatchet.

Read an article yesterday about Clowney wanting to go back to where he started with Texans. I wish someone besides us would sign him and put this to bed.
