Jameis Winston's best attributes: Targeting Tight ends, Broken Plays, Play-action (2 Viewers)

It's amazing how he was the laughing stock when he was a Buc and now that he is a Saint he has this cult following of Saints fans depicting him as the second coming.

He looks like Jamies Winston in a Saints uniform, now whether someone's takes that as good or bad is predicated on how you took that statement but he is who he is

In fairness, alot of us (converted) Winston fans are fans because of his actions....he wants to be great. And he is willing to put the work in and the results of that work were really beginning to show without ever really having the full offensive weaponry....

What I don't get is folks that think he didn't show enough? They have pivoted into the "but, passing yards" argument and other nonsensical garbage...I mean what games where they watching for god sakes?

I think he did show enough to get a multiyear deal (perhaps incentive laden)....assuming his recovery goes well it is going to be interesting to see if other teams show interest....but I think he really wants to be here...and I think CSP wants him here....we will see what happens....

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Really???? Please tell us how Jameis goes from QB1 to a 1yr deal and sign's for less money/yrs than the the guy he crushed in the QB competition? At least get on my level.

Was that a joke? Jameis won the starting job. Winston was QB1 before he got hurt and is QB1 now. So, what you are saying is Winston will lose his QB1 status, get signed for less money and years than Taysom. You sound like you are on a fools errand my friend.
No, that's what you said. I said resign him to another 1 year deal you added the filler.

Bold prediction. Jameis does not return as a Saint. Just a feeling. largely based on the paucity of comments from Payton and the team front office.

Edit: that does not mean I think they will go with Taysom either.

Well ok, my bad. But, how do you see him signing a 1yr deal to be the starter for us? He will be offered starter money and a longer deal by other teams. I see him getting a 3yr deal at 25 to 27+ mill a year, even with coming off injury, he will be healthy for the first game of the season. Winston isn't going "hat in hand." The Saints will offer him more than that to stay.

I was just looking back at 2007 and 2010 when the saints had no running game under Brees and ranked 28th in rushing both years.

Brees only managed an 89 and 90 qb rating both years.

The saints had the 28th ranked rushing game in 2008 too but Brees threw for 5000 yards while managing a 96 passer rating while throwing 2200 yards to backs and TEs in the passing game.

In 2019 Winston threw 13 more ints than Brees did with an 84 rating while only completing 1400 yards to TEs and backs.

The Buccaneers ranked 29 and 27th in rushing in 2018 and 2017 and Winston managed a 90 or better qb rating.

When Brady had zero passing weapons in 2018 he posted an 88 qb rating.

Winston without weapons posted above 100 in 2021.

2 of Winston's last 3 years of meaningful starting action he's posted 90-100+ qb ratings even though he had severe deficiencies in the running game or passing game.

Why?

Why would they let a guy with a 102.8 qb rating and years in our system walk out the door for nothing?

Furthermore, who do you replace him with?

I’d rather Jameis Winston over any QB prospect in April’s draft class….

I’d rather Jameis Winston over any other FA QB that will be hitting the market next offseason… and that includes Aaron Rodgers. I think Rodgers is just such a D-bag that he could ruin the chemistry and culture of this roster.

Lastly, I’d rather have Jameis Winston at QB than Russell Winston and no 1st round picks for at least the next 2 years (as well as losing other picks and players possibly).

Just seems like a no brainer. Winston showed he's good enough(Outside of playing in the rain) to win you a championship here. We only have to wait till 2023 for Rdgers and Russ to be FAs. So, we can literally have own cake and eat it too.

Lets fix the foundation of our offense 1st.... and then get very aggressive about trying to find the right boat captain. No matter how good the boat captain is... you put them on a sinking ship. It'll sink.

It really is. Sign Winston and since he won't cost and arm and leg we can improve the offense in FA and the draft. Literally worse case scenario is Winston somehow regresses and you can draft a QB next year when there should be a better QB class. We improve our offense and give the rookie a fighting chance.

Wilson and Rodgers set the rest of the offense back and doesn't give us much of a chance to improve it within the next few years. Not taking any of the other names I've seen thrown around seriously. Mariotta... Really?
