James Hurst theorizes on when the players started to separate from DA (2 Viewers)

Apologizing to the outgoing Falcons coach revealed the horribly weak character of DA, which together with his consistently poor in-game decision-making and clueless man-management helped to make him one of the worst head coaches of all time.

Wasn’t James Hurst supposed to be one of our starting OL and then retired like a week before the season starter? If so then I don’t care what he has to say, I could be thinking of someone else though

makes sense..................

He retired in April and was no longer under contract at the time, IIRC.

I care. It's called class. There is no need to beat people by more than a couple of scores unless you are in some sort of round robin.

Apparently people in NOLA or America lack that.

I could understand this POV but points scored is still a tiebreaker in the NFL......so, TBH, what you are spewing is total BS.......

Competitive sports has never been about being nice, coaches and players are paid to win and score (or stop the other team from scoring)....period....

The rest is just noise.....if you want to stop the other team from scoring play better.....

Not even gonna click to see what he said... It was the apology after the ATL game... we all know it.
Nope well before the Atlanta game. Anyone can go look at my past posts from last year and it will tell you around the time they checked out on him. AK41’s face said it all during games. In fact, he was saying it, without saying it in post game interviews. The Atlanta game, was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. There was almost no coming back from it. 🦌 had his chance, but he started to wet the bed game 3 this year. Once you start losing games, that you should be winning, players start to put a microscope on you even more. Then you start losing games in historical fashion, then any credit you have, is gone forever. I said “losing becomes infectious”. That is what 🦌 was. A loser who can’t figure out solutions.

ATL was still trying to score, hence the pick off and long run back by the Honey Badger. I guess according to the person's you quoted logic, only ATL should have been playing to score.

I think that was more of the straw that finally broke the camels back. If players are willing to go against a coaches call then you have to assume they already didn't really respect him to begin with. That more or less just confirmed to them that they were right and this dude wasn't going to have their backs. Either way, none of it helped. It didn't help either that Daddy Loomis had to come in and essentially tell his kids to respect their mom (Allen). They even said they thought Mickey was coming to let them know Allen had been fired, that's telling. What's more astonishing is that even after that and through this 7 game slide Allen still had Mickey's vote of confidence and it took an owner going behind his back to finally do what was needed. That's scary to know that Mickey is part of the succession plan and he's that inept.

I simply come back to the lieutenant/general analogy. He was a much better lieutenant, as a defensive coordinator through the years, than he was a general, as a head coach.

Payton had his personality issues, and probably still does, but it won games. And having an elite QB for 15 years didn’t hurt, either.

I've said this and I stand on it; if DA had a better pulse of the team and what they were trying to do, he would have let them run a play and if he had done that, he would have had the locker room from top to bottom. Not only did he bypass the "team" aspect but then openly admitted to apologizing and throwing the team under the bus. Everyone was like "nobody would dare do that to Sean" and they are right (LOL) but I believe that he would have ran them out there in heavy sets and see what happened.

Back when I coached U16 soccer, I had parents and coaches of opposing teams mad at me because my team never won by fewer than 10 goals. I had a ringer team made up mostly of JV guys, a few who were state All-Stars, and my brother who played right mid for me was in the Olympic Development Program for the USMNT. I told them I didn't care about how they felt because point differential determined state playoff seeding. I told them if they didn't want my team to win by double digits, then stop us on the pitch. It's probably why I like(d) Payton so much as a coach.

I was on the receiving end of some beatdowns in soccer and football growing up. It didn't make me whine or complain; it made me determined to play better/harder and not let it happen again.
