James Hurst theorizes on when the players started to separate from DA (1 Viewer)

You could watch the whole thing happen in realtime in the Gameday thread. We all thought it was amazing moment of clarity for DA and then we found out it was Jameis being the ringleader for a mutiny.

"Those emotions continued into the next day as players talked negatively among themselves. It was to the point to that when Loomis called a rare post season meeting, players thought it was to announce Allen’s departure."

Ok you know what I really am ready for Benson to just go guns blazing and clear out Loomis as well. If he can't read the room that badly then he has to go too.

Yeah, Hurst is confirming what a bunch of us stated right after the game.

It’s nice to see Hurst provide that confirmation. Dudes only get so many years to play in the NFL. I feel for James and all our older stars that had to spend their last 3 years dealing with DA.

Biggest duh ever. Throwing the players under the bus. Then, apologizing for beating the Falcons. Definitive loser mentality. The way Payton would have owned that moment and said the Falcons can go get bent. The way ANY coach would have stood behind their players knowing the situation Williams faced after leading the league in TDs the year before. THE WAY ANY PERSON familiar with football knows the history of this rivalry, where the Falcons won't even put the Saints name on their scoreboard, would have understood the assignment.

The guy is just a loser. He could have the Chiefs or the Commanders, he would have a losing record. He could start fresh from 0-0 today with any franchise(s) and he'd have a losing record in 5 years. He's not a head coach in the NFL. He doesn't get it. I never rooted for him to be fired because I truly hoped as a Saints fan since he was who we had. But now that he's gone. We can be honest about it. And the people that still to this day defended that BS? Know that's the day he truly loss the team and it should have been obvious to you.
Well said. Man Sean Payton called a wheel route to Kamara on 4th and beyond when we were already stomping the eagles 😂 I think just last week someone was complaining about him “running up the score” and he told them to play better. Dennis proved that day he simply doesn’t get it. Crazy when he’s spent so long in this city and around these fans. Shows how utterly detached mentally he was. Good riddance.

Not surprising at all. I could care less what happens on the field, you do not apologize to your arch nemesis for anything.

I really liked DA too, but he’s not a killer. He’s soft. SP would have gladly hung 60 on them and then gave Arthur Smith the finger and Cancun on 3 shirt at midfield. I get the feeling Rizzi is the same.

Pretty immature sounding logic to me.

I actually thought DA's decision to not run up the score was admirable. Just fit with the ethos I had embedded in me growing up. I lost respect for the players that day.

If Williams deserved a touchdown he would have ran harder and got one earlier in the season. Maybe averaged more than an inch per carry so he could get more reps.

Makes sense to me! Idc what went on you don’t throw your players under the bus in public. Especially not for the falcons! Reprimand them privately. That’s leadership 101.

Allen handled it the worst way possible but let’s be honest, the offense threw him under the bus publicly, too. We all despise the Falcons but scoring out of victory formation was bush league.

The bigger issue is that it happened at all. No way that goes down like that if Payton is on the sidelines, and that’s enough of an indictment of Allen.

Looking ahead to the future.

Rizzi is my guy. I'd be fighting side by side with him... I got the nickname Killer because I got two 300 lb linemen ejected after I punched them for picking me up and carrying me across the field, literally holding. Next play they tried to double team me again and I just yanked them both on the ground with me and they started trying to attack me.... lol.... CJGJ, got nothin on me.
That's pretty dang tough, Ms. Gayle.

This is the best way to put it.

Allen was wrong for vetoing the play. Players were wrong for running it out of victory formation. Allen was wrong for throwing them under the bus publicly.

The sum of all those parts adds up to an organizational disaster that should’ve ended ten months ago.

Don't know how many of yall watched Game of Thrones, but when Ned Stark's wife captures Tyrion and throws him in a jail cell, Ned had no idea about any of it. When he's confronted at court, he immediately defends his wife and says "she seized the imp at my command." I always thought of that scene after the DA - Falcons apology. It was the anti-Ned Stark move. Or the non-honorable move.

The entire roster defied a direct order from their Head Coach then was quite proud to own it.

Everyone with more than one brain cell knew the roster was done with DA when that happened. Kubiak bought DA two games this year and then after watching the defense crap in their own hands and clap against the Eagles and alcons, they all immediately checked out again. They were done chopping wood.

Should have been fired end of last season.
