Janoris Jenkins hopes to stay in New Orleans

The Saints claimed cornerback Janoris Jenkins off of waivers when he was waived by the Giants in December, which means they picked up his existing contract for the final two games of the regular season.

ML will rework that deal and keep Jenkins. I'm not sure what Apple will demand on the open market, but bringing both back would not be bad if they are affordable.

That cap hit is hard to roll with. I hope they can work it out. Doubt they can keep him and Apple but maybe. I'd just hate to lose youth at the position. I'd feel better with a promising rookie behind him if we can't hang on to Apple.

Loomis is a money guru, if Jenkins wants to stay I can’t see how a extension deal isn’t worked out.

IMO Apple’s play hurt him money wise. Unless some team is desperate and throws a lot of money his way I would like to see him brought back. He has skills and at times showed he can be a decent #2. Definitely proved he’s not a #1 CB. For the right price having solid depth at CB is a must in this league. I’m not sure if he has the hips to play in the slot or if he’s a pure boundary guy but having him and Jenkins, ones bound to be able to move inside cause PJ should be gone and not sure what Robinson’s status will be.

I would rather have Jenkins back under a new reworked deal that lowers his cap hit. Apple ONLY if he comes cheap and a deal can't be worked out with Jenkins.

One of the storylines that got buried from Sunday due to our loss was the stellar play of Jenkins. He's been incredible and looks like his old self. I hope we hang onto this guy and get to see he and Lattimore together for a full season or two.

Agreed. Our defense would be as strong as ever (outside of the Dome Patrol era).

If Drew retires and we end up rolling with Taysom or someone else, we are going to really need to invest in having a strong defense as well as put some more dollars into the supporting cast on offense.

Without a top paid QB on the roster, Jenkins is someone I think you need to splurge on with the excess funds.

Before making any decisions, Loomis and Payton should earmark the money for the second contract of Lattimore. And it will be expensive.

From there, we should use leftover money to re-sign whoever they will prioritize between Bell and Williams.

I really don't see the saints to be able to keep either of Jenkins and Bell. I don't see the saints paying over 10 million for a second cornerback. We just don't have the money to do so.
