Jarvis Landry visiting Saints tomorrow (2 Viewers)

Even if Landry signs, we still need to spend a first round pick on a receiver.

I agree but if you have Landry and for some reason the value isn't there for a WR at 16 or 19, and I think it will be, or an amazing talent at another position falls to 16, they have the option to take one at 19 or to take one in the 2nd.

Nah. Can't be. I saw way too many posts on here saying that we were sitting on our hands, not looking to upgrade WR.

Couldn't have been that these vet WRs priced themselves way too high and the Saints were waiting for them to come back down to earth.

LOL, look at you posting like a visit means a signing is inevitable. If I have learned anything, the Saints love to wine and dine future opponents. It's like players decide, "well I'm ready to sign a contract guess I need to take a trip to New Orleans and get free dinner at Emeril's before going to my team".

But seriously, I hope he signs. I'd love to be wrong about the Saints level of interest in getting a WR signed.

With all due respect to Nick…this move should have no influence on our draft.

Scenario 1. Saints sign Landry and BPA is a WR…you draft the WR

Scenario 2. Saints sign Landry and BPA is an OT…you draft the OT.

Scenario 3. Saints don’t sign Landry and BPA is a WR…you draft the WR

Scenario 4. Saints don’t sign Landry and BPA is an OT…you draft the OT.

Nick thinks that the guys who will be available at OT at 16 would be reaches in the first round. Specifically, he thinks that the top 4 will be gone leaving only Raimann who he thinks has a 2nd round grade or at least a late first grade. So, if the Saints feel they need a LT, they will need to trade up to get a guy like Cross. So, he is assuming OT will not be the BPA at 16 or 19.

He does think that WR could very well be BPA at 16 and that BPA is the best strategy if you fill holes in free agency. He's just pointing out that if the Saints feel like they have to get a starting LT in this draft, they are really going to have to trade up to get one. But, if they don't add a WR before the draft they are going to have to stay at 16 and 19 to get a 1st round WR.

Basically, he thinks that signing Landry would open up the draft for them and allow them to take BPA at 16 and 19, or move up for LT like Cross depending on if they think they have to get a starting LT.

You are probably right. But, on the bright side, I can dream that we sign Landry and then OBJ decides to come back home and play with Jarvis just in time for the playoffs. So our 4 wide set in the playoffs is MT, Landry, OBJ, and Olave.

Nick has hinted at Cross a couple of times now. We must be high on him.

Yeah, hard to tell if Nick knows something or if he just thinks Cross makes the most sense because he may drop out the top 10 and is the best pass protector of the LTs in the draft. But, he often just starts talking about a guy when he hears things that he can't fully confirm so he may have heard that the Saints are high on him.

"Landry, we’re told, had hoped to get a contract in the range of $20 million per year.":wow:

Must have come way down off that number to get a call from the Saints. I don't think he's worth half that.

If MVS is worth $10 million AAV, Landry is worth at least $10 million AAV.
