Jarvis Landry visiting Saints tomorrow (2 Viewers)

Yep.
Eric Martin was slow. Colston was slow. It’s not the end all be all. Hell the greatest WR of all time was slow as heck…..

And I have a feeling, this time we will land the free agent. Just have a hunch. 😊
Randy Moss wasn't slow as heck :)
It would and I can guarantee you Saints brass values LT over WR much to fans dismay

Personally I would rather stay put and take WR and a OT if he falls, but what I want and what the Saints do on draft day are never aligned lol
I think it had more to do with what the team needed at the time. We were trying to protect and preserve a 40 year old QB with a not all that strong arm. A 1st rd WR wasn't of any use with an old Drew Brees, linemen to keep him upright had more value

I think you have to focus on what round the selection is made because the first round shows a clear preference for offensive and defensive lines. At this point, I'm not even sure how we selected Latt being that he's not a lineman.

I can see that to a degree about the receivers and Drew, but LT has a very premium value placed upon it. It is the one position in the draft where the top ones go very early and most of the top talent is gone by pick 15. It will be the top position picked this year yet again along with edge rusher in the top 10.

With Jameis coming off surgery I would imagine keeping him upright and limiting his hits will be top priority. If Landry or another WR is signed I can definitely see a move up for a tackle. While never a sexy pick, if we find our protector for our QB's blindside for the next decade I could live with it. I just do want to see the WR situation addressed somehow someway and not swept under the rug

I agree but if you have Landry and for some reason the value isn't there for a WR at 16 or 19, and I think it will be, or an amazing talent at another position falls to 16, they have the option to take one at 19 or to take one in the 2nd.
Alec Pierce!!!!

Tackles and edge rushers always go off the board first that hasn't changed in years and will be the case this year once again. Only thing that trumps them is a QB prospect like a Burrow that has very few questions about his talent, and in this draft there aren't any like Burrow. So yeah top 10 will be dominated by tackles and rushers since the QB class is lacking.

You gotta remember how Jameis got hurt...it wasn't taking a sack because his line couldn't stop a nosebleed, it was because he was scrambling because no one could get open consistency

Yeah but that doesn't change the value of LT in the league , it still is and has been at a very high premium. And any QB coming off injury regardless of how he got it will be a concern for the team. Keeping him clean as much as they can will be in their best interests.

Depends on how the Saints feel about Hurst here, but I have feeling we move up for a tackle amidst the QB smokescreen we have put out there. Personally I would love for us to be patient see if a guy like Penning falls and take OT and WR with the 2 picks, but we all know our FO is seldom patient and if they see someone they like they pull the trigger

Don't get me wrong...Jerry Rice is an all time great, but he's like a Tim Duncan great...Randy is more like a Kobe great. If I'm picking teams I'm taking Randy every single time
Duncan. What a stud.
Good post, I agree…and also think you can’t go wrong with either Rice or Moss. Rice took my soul way too many times as a young man, on a team I loathe to this day.
I was always a huge Randy fan.

One possibility is that if we sign Landry then you could take 16 & 19 and trade up to get a player you love and address receiver with other picks. This draft has some really good receivers in later rounds. We have a #1 in MT. Calloway and Harty will be here. You have to remember that whomever we draft, they aren't competing for the #1 spot so the Saints may not feel the need to address that position in round 1. I hope they do as I think that's the smart thing to do, but they may not.

For example, if Breece Hall is there at 16 or 19, would you pass on him? I don't see many RB needy teams ahead of us. There's a few years left to AK's prime and surely we can't count on Ingram & Jones Jr for too much longer. So you will need another back or we can continue to run AK into the ground. RB is a position many fans don't see as a need, but it absolutely is. Remember how dominant AK was with a healthy and in his prime Ingram?

So the point is, there's no telling what the Saints are thinking. I don't think any of us believed Swimmer that Davenport was the pick. I don't think anybody thought Ruiz or Turner would be the 1st round picks the past two years. I wouldn't be surprised to see either of our first rounders not go to a receiver although I would be disappointed if it didn't.
