Jarvis Landry visiting Saints tomorrow (1 Viewer)

In the saints offence, Landry will play the Lance Moore role, moving the chains on third downs with precise routes.

The same role could be found in the draft at the second or third round, with UCLA’s Kyle Phillips as an ideal candidate.

I really don’t see the saints picking a big salary on Landry’s role.

Even if we sign him, we need a competent speedster to play Devery’s role and that is a first round pick.

I don’t want to trade up for anyone. We need picks as our tools to clean the cap.

If they sign him it won’t be right away. It will most likely be when his signing doesn’t impact our compensatory pick for next year.
According to this, he was cut, so he does not count on the compensatory pick formula.

Still don't understand when you're team don't want to pay you $15 million. You think a team will pay $20 million.

Don't get me wrong...Jerry Rice is an all time great, but he's like a Tim Duncan great...Randy is more like a Kobe great. If I'm picking teams I'm taking Randy every single time
The thing is, Moss could play four more seasons in today's league and still not have Rices numbers. Even one the best 'modern' WRs (Fitzgerald) still has a long way to go to match those numbers. In an era of football where running the ball came first, Rice getting those kinds of numbers makes him the goat (not to put down Moss, who is obviously right there with him), imo.

He is not getting 20 million, not even 15.

He will sign a one year deal on a place he thinks will showcase him in order to get a better long term deal next year.

If we sign Landry we still need a LT…that’s one of the 1st round picks. LT is a premium position, get a good one on a five year rookie deal…that’s what winning teams do.

The other 1st rounder goes to the BPA.

And if that’s not a WR we grab one with one of the next two picks.

Landry will leave the Saints open to grabbing a 1st round BPA…that‘s also what winning teams do.

Loomis has always operated in signing FA's at positions of need before the draft and remaining as flexible as possible to avoid a reach. This year is the first year I see obvious needs that still need to be filled going into the draft. It is why some some fans are chomping at the bit for any WR help and even Mike Triplett is voicing his frustration lol.

But I get the WR's in this FA were lottery signings in the beginning and we couldn't afford them. We missed out on MVS with KC offering more money and a longer contract so that was out.

I know it wasn't Loomis' wish to remain with obvious needs going into the draft which leads me to believe there may be something more to this visit than the one with HB. Only thing stopping this signing will be Landry not coming far off that 20 million price tag which he has no choice at this point imo. Loomis isn't going to touch anywhere near that amount , matter of how much Landry is willing to come down. We will make a serious offer unlike HB, I have a feeling we get Landry

Tackles and edge rushers always go off the board first that hasn't changed in years and will be the case this year once again. Only thing that trumps them is a QB prospect like a Burrow that has very few questions about his talent, and in this draft there aren't any like Burrow. So yeah top 10 will be dominated by tackles and rushers since the QB class is lacking.
I get that's the traditional model but teams are paying attention to what the Bengals and Rams did, which is prioritizing playmakers.

Jarvis was looking for a long term deal but the Browns weren't budging. He was hearing what his agent was hearing, which was WRs are about to be getting deals. The market slowed up too fast for his value but HAD HE KNOWN Deshaun was coming chances are he would have strongly considered staying another year and $15m??
