Jeff Duncan: Inside the Saints Culture Issues (1 Viewer)

Keep me posted on this story. Sounds like it could be good theatre.
Had the meeting with state agencies. Had 7 violations, the least expensive violation was 35,000 dollars. State told everyone they know exactly what’s going on. Client and contractor agreed to keep information from me, especially environmental concerns. Nobody would talk to me…period. Client and contractor was told I am their arm of the state (which I am) and if they refuse to listen then they are defying a direct order to continue to work. All activities will be shut down and a 500 million dollar project will be put on hiatus until they decide client and contractor are responsible enough to start back.

Client has involved me more than ever before and the contractor is kissing my butt.

Sadly, Saints are about to trade away/cut the remaining core of their team which means a rebuild. Saints management will position it as "keeping the culture" or some other BS. So DA is really just a babysitter during this process. I don't think you could get a top tier coach to come in for this now. You could get any mid tier coach but that honestly is not much of an upgrade over DA. Thus, we deal with DA another year or two while the wins decline and then we look to bring in a top coach when there is some upside going forward.

Loomis and Payton are best friends. Jones and JJ couldn’t stand each other.

It’s been widely reported (and I’m pretty sure confirmed by both men) what actually happened. This is not rumor or guessing.
Best friends ? That’s funny.
They had a good working relationship but that turned towards the end and after the ownership power struggle ended.
It’s in everyone’s best own financial and professional interests to keep the proper appearances and optics when it ended.

Wasn't Mickey Payton's best man at his wedding?

Haslett was an enforcer. Ditka, too. How'd that work out?
i don't think he was saying we need an enforcer, rather than another type. he was saying we need a "balance" in leadership type, and we are missing the enforcer component.

If all you have is an enforcer, it's a problem. If all you have is a nurturer, it's a problem. You need both; preferably in the HC position; and someone who knows when each approach is called for. If that's not what he was saying, I hope he corrects me.
