Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (65 Viewers)

If it comes down to Mickey having to do a little “salesmanship” to Mike McCarthy, perhaps he could be offered a long term contract. Ensuring he’d survive next year and the salary dump.

I don’t think Brady would have been a good hire for the Saints job right now — he’s still
pretty green and it’s gonna be a lot more challenging turning this team around than calling plays for Josh Allen. It’s smart of him to recognize he’s not ready.

I’m starting to warm to the idea of McCarthy. There needs to be a lot of changes the next two years, and a proven, experienced coach might be a better fit for the challenge than a guy cutting his teeth.

Is it a bad look to be turned down by 2 candidates?
Glenn spent way more time with the Jets than he did here. Just like Vrable did in NE. The Jets always had the inside track. Like I said Brady probably figured he was not a finalist for the Saints job and didn't want to get passed on by 3 teams. THAT"S a bad look

I like Nick, but when he likes someone or does not like someone he gets biased. Brady was his guy, while he said he didn't have a favorite, but when asked he said Brady was the guy he'd go with multiple times. It sounds like he's a bit hurt.

Nick is absolutely correct though. This is not a valued HC position in the NFL. Brady decided to stay as an OC in the hopes a better opportunity presents itself next year.

Glenn chose the Jets over us.

It's never a good sign when two coaches pass over you.

We are just not an attractive destination. Anyone with eyes can see the plethora of problems we have.

From what I understand MM has let it be known he wants the job

Not just two coaches, two who worked for you in the past.

That's how I see it too. Despite all the doom and gloom, it's really a can't lose situation for the Saints.
I agree to a degree. The candidates that were in high demand or considered hot prospects aren’t available to us. We have to admit as much and look for positives at the same time. Like others have said, Sean wasn’t likely our top choice but ended up coming from the lower pool and being a great result.
