Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (1 Viewer)

That's how I see it too. Despite all the doom and gloom, it's really a can't lose situation for the Saints.
I agree to a degree. The candidates that were in high demand or considered hot prospects aren’t available to us. We have to admit as much and look for positives at the same time. Like others have said, Sean wasn’t likely our top choice but ended up coming from the lower pool and being a great result.

How do you know this for sure? there’s speculation he may sit out a year which I’m hoping isn’t true!
No one but the hiring committee and McCarthy's team no for sure. But there was this posted in the last couple of days.

I’ve learned that MM’s people are actively lobbying for this job through every channel imaginable.

I like Nick, but when he likes someone or does not like someone he gets biased. Brady was his guy, while he said he didn't have a favorite, but when asked he said Brady was the guy he'd go with multiple times. It sounds like he's a bit hurt He was so down on Penning in pre-season that it took most of the season for him to say he improved and he still wants him benched
BINGO!

You don’t think the smart coaches in the league took notice that Sean Payton was aggressively doing everything possible to get out of being the head coach here? Including foregoing a significant salary and being out of coaching for a year.
No I don't......you give the NFL coaches way too much credit.

Mike is clearly in the driver's seat, and we have no leverage.
We have the leverage of interviewing the other coaches. If McCarthy thinks he can lose out to any of them he is suddenly not the shoe in he may have thought he was.

I just hope that Loomis gets this right. I really think this team is 3 years away from being able to begin having expecations. I think you bring in McCarthy and let him start installing his systems and culture. He'd either be a bridge to the next guy or setting the table for himself. Not a bad strategy actually.

If you hire one of the young guys, will you wait for 3-4 years and hope you were right? I think McCarthy can steady the ship at the very least over the next coulple of seasons.
