Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (27 Viewers)

I'm not disappointed. I just got done watching interviews with Joe Brady and, to be honest, he's too mellow for me. He reminded me of Dennis Allen. I want a coach who is outspoken and assertive. Same thing for Kafka, too low key. I like Weaver, who isn't soft spoken, and I like Mike McCarthy, who is a proven coach.
Just my two cents.
Also, did it ever occur to anyone that maybe Brady withdrew his name because he knows the Saints want McCarthy?

There's another possibility. I find it interesting that nobody else but the Saints and Bears expressed interest in McCarthy. Maybe it's known in the inner circles in the NFL that the Saints HC job is McCarthy's job to lose. Some coaches will take an interview request knowing they won't get it for the experience. Others won't.

Maybe it doesn't have to be that complicated.
Only worry I have about MM is word on the streets is he may want to take a season off.

Well, at least McCarthy is still interested. But, I do find it odd that they aren't going to interview him until after they interview Moore. I wonder what the reasoning is for that?

And as much as I think that McCarthy is the best choice at this point to rebuild the roster, maybe Moore is a better option than I think? Or maybe Moore is a good option if the coaching search has made Loomis realize he has to tear it all down and start over with a younger roster and a young QB?
It's my guess that ML is doing due diligence. They asked for in-person interviews and why back out when they could do them early next week. It's my understanding that MM wants the job. Maybe he knows he's the frontrunner. He'll either take the Saints job or sit out a yr. I think Kingsbury stays in Wash another yr to learn from Quinn.

As far as Brady goes , I think he knows he's not the frontrunner and rather than get passed on by a 3rd team he just stayed in Buff.

Spin it how you want, Glenn passed on us Ben Johnson and Vrable also passed on us too but Vrable is much more of an understandable situation. Officially though for this hiring cycle that’s 4 candidates who have passed on us.

I fully believe we can hire a great candidate and things can turn around, but I’m not silly enough to think the Saints are in a great spot right now. Odds are completely against such a thing happening anytime soon.

No spin is necessary. If you have a chance to become HC for the team that drafted you and where you spent the better part of your career, that's your dream job. Ben Johnson went where there was a QB. Not a surprise there either.

You know how I know Nick does a great job? Half the fans call him a sunshine pumper that carries water for the front office and half think he's overly negative and is too hard on the team.
I do think Nick does a great job and have disagreed with him on more than 1 occasion. He can be quite biased and it really shows with the Brady thing. He kept saying that he didn't have choice , but when asked which candidate he'd go with it was always Brady. So now he's slamming the Saints.

He ripped Penning all TC and pre-season and still has a hard time saying how much he improved

Why do you think that Rizzi isn't that good at talent evaluation? I would think a special teams guys would be good at that, but I honestly don't know.
Because to really know offense or defense you have to coach those positions. Rizzi has no NFL or even major college experience coaching offense or defense.

So the Bears and Jets were more desirable jobs. You are making my point many have been making, which is: the Saints HC job is one of the least desirable in the league.

While I think we aren't all that desireable, I also believe that Johnson, Vrabel and Glenn weren't available to us from the get go. The Raiders hired Pete and the Cowboys went with Schottenheimer. We have a nice pool to chose from, even if Brady or a few of the remaining pool don't want to be here. We will hire a decent candidate. I'd be happy with McCarthy, Kingsbury or Moore. I've also been a Kafka honk for the past few years and could live with that hire. I just believe McCarthy is the right guy considering our circumstances. Asking a young unproven HC to step in and navigate this mess scares me. I think McCarthy has the skin to handle it. It could become overwhelming for a younger guy with less experience. The reality is, this team is at least 2 years away from even thinking about turning this around.

There were only 5 jobs open in the first place. If you want to be a HC, yeah, you don't have a lot of choices. So even if the Saints are at the bottom of the list, it's pretty desirable if you want to be a HC.

Allen already made Daboll a head coach, and even Dorsey got a HC interview after his first season as OC for Allen.

It’s as if there is something else that is making these OC’s perform so well in Buffalo.
But wait , don't you know that Brady is the savior. Allen was awful before Brady. Also Burrow , Chase and Jefferson were just mediocre players before Brady took over with his NON play calling duites
